Telkom subscriber asks why her data bill was high, has chat cut off

The old "Caveat Emptor" (Let the buyer beware) alternatively afrikaans version " Kul jou hier, Kul jou daar, en sied daar" - Cheaper is not always the answer when it comes decisions around mobile data etc.
Cheaper comes with it's own problems. This consumer made the incorrect choice and now she pays the price for this mistake.

Haha, I wonder what her bill would have been if she had been OOB with Vodacom!!! Not R1400 I bet.

And she would have been paying R999pm probably for 20GB with VC. At least with Telkom it was only R399pm...

I had the same issue for May 2017. Was billed for data even though I have a cap. Called them today, they say I don't have a cap. Bear in mind I have the contract for atleast 6 months and noticed the cap working. The team leader basically told me I used the data so must pay. She then said she would call me back from her direct line. I'm still waiting for that call 6 hrs later

Ask Kevin to do a follow up article...

Telkom truly sucks! That is nothing compared to mine...
For 8 years Telkom have been taking R79 to R319 off my account monthly for IDIRECT INTERNET services and I cannot get that stopped and my bank says that only Telkom can do it!
Trying to talk to anyone gets you nowhere! Idirect phone lines no longer exist and they cannot find my account either but just take money is their MO!!
I managed to speak to their fraud department and also got nowhere!

My company has also started to experience out of bundle chargers. I send a mail to Telkom Abuse, and was informed on 8 August I would receive a credit for the over charge and that they apologized. I then received a October and November for a total of R8,114.54.
I reported this on 13 November and explained I do not select out of bundle chargers, and never have, and I then told her that the same had happened previously and that my account was credited, she then said to me so you think because you got a credit once you can get away with it! (Really who does she think she is). She then also told me that I should have been charged R199.00 for the internet which she sees I have not been billed since March 2015 and that she would need to add these chargers to my bill!
I told her there is not ways I am paying that account neither the out of bundle chargers. She then disconnected my line....

I find going into a Telkom shop & screaming at the top of your lungs at them usually resolves these kind of issues quicker.

I usually start by saying 'You're going to have to excuse me, but I'm going to have to scream at you now..'

I had a 2meg line that had average performance of under 0.6 megs for over 2 years, so don't judge ok.

Well, I applied for an iPhone 8 2 weeks ago. Got a call within an hour, went halfway through the motions, was told I was approved but we got cut off. They never returned my call. I applied again. Someone else called me within an hour and we started afresh. Was again told I was approved. They said they would let a debit order go off my account in 24-48 hours. That was a week ago. No debit order went off.

I am now trying to block all Telkom debit orders and is no longer interested in their phone or contract.
