Why does telkom tie us into these stupid contracts... grrr

in MAY 2005 I got my ADSL line in a premotion wich included line+ISP

in MARCH 2006 they lost our details and we had to sign a new contract in order to keep the router...

Now in FEB 2008 I am still tied in to this TWO YEAR :( !! contract

So my question is... how do I (once the existing contract expires) get just a 4096 line no frills no contract no email nothing... ???

PS I want to use a different ISP

I am also still stuck in a Telkom contract (2 year)

I can't wait for it to expire... really, I'm hoping and praying it's soon.

2 year contract ... just to keep the router. Insane. You should have told them to f-off.

I only took the contract cause at the time, i couldn't afford to even buy SUPPER... so getting it FREE and also not paying for installation was like super cool.

Now, I just want the damn contract over!

I just checked, I signed my contact on the 21st August 2006, so that means I'm probably stuck with the F'ing Telkom as my primary ISP till the 21st August 2008.

*sigh*

That's another 6/7 months... someone hold me!

EDIT: I'm setting reminders now already! 1/2 months ahead, so I don't forget to CANCEL my contract!

We signed a contract on a 512k line in 2006.

A few months later in 2007, the closer plan 5 bundle came out with the 4mb ADSL included.

We ended up breaking the contract and paying a fine of R1800.00

This price varied depending how many months you had left in your contract until it expired.

Anyway, the moral of the story is...don't break your contract or you'll find R1000 or more leaving your pockets ;)

The answer is to NOT sign up for a contract with ANY ISP in SA, the only way to go is month 2 month.

My contract with them (Telkom) expired last year june...
You'd think they'd at least call and ask if you wanted to extend in an attempt to keep customers..
Not a peep out of them since then

My work did the smart thing and have a month-to-month contract on all lines now.

So we can drop telkom at our convenience, when Neotel comes into play :)

The lure is the free router when going for a 24-month contract.

And if I sign a contract, and they lose it, and they ask myself to sign another one, they'll get this : .!..
