I've actually had a relatively pleasant Telkom experience up until now

I had just put in an order for cancellation yesterday as I will be moving.....

I'm informed from the hopefully uninformed Telkom Shop employee that even though I have given 30 days notice. I will be required to for an additional 30 days after I have moved out of my residence

This is what I sent them:

"Good Morning,

I'm currently moving from address & have put in a request for termination of my ADSL line for the 31st of May '09. Could someone please contact me on my cell number provided & assist me in queries I may have regarding this cancellation.

I'm very displease to have heard that I was required to pay for a month's fees upfront on the installations. I'm even more displeased with the fact that despite me giving 30days notice for the cancellation of my account that I'm supposed to pay for an extra month for services that will never be rendered from Telkom to me.

I feel it is totally unjust an unwarranted to be charged for months of service where there is no service provided.

I haven't yet put in an application for my new line as yet because I was shocked to hear the above.

I would appreciate if someone could call me & justify the above.

Regards"

No offence dude but that doesn't sound so bad. I could tell you some of my horror stories with telkom, but I'm trying to forget those events, and I wouldn't want to ruin the good mood I'm in :p

Sigh, you should never try to cancel your line. Just ask them to suspend it.

Telkom has lost me as their customer, I will never have to fight with them ever again. It felt so good to cancel their line, like a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Here's how to cancel a Telkom line.
Step 1: Cancel Telkom Internet
Step 2: Cancel the ADSL line rental
Step 3: Cancel the line.
Step 4: Wait one day.
Step 5: Go back to step 1 and verify that it is done properly, repeat for 6 days straight exclude Saturday and Sunday.

Here's how to install a Telkom line:
Step 1: Wait till 2 months before you need the line.
Step 2: Order a closer 2 package, which includes free installation.
Step 3: Keep the order number.
Step 4: Wait one day.
Step 5: Check on the progress of the order. If it does not exist any more, go back to Step 2.
Step 6: Wait one week.
Step 7: Check on the progress of the order. If it does not exist any more, go back to Step 2.
...
Step 93: You have actually managed to meet the techie at your place and the line is actually installed and working.
Step 94: Cancel the Closer 2 package and revert back to a normal line-rental.
Step 95: Order an ADSL self-install.

I will go back to that retarded Telkom Shop............

Point is 30 days notice is 30 days notice, I'm going to see if I can do it my way 1st......

I don't see why it has to be any other funny routes..........
