I would love to see a comment from a Telkom representative.

They should have someone answering questions here but their business skills are limited to ripping us off.

We, (ADSL subscribers) demand from you, (Telkom) that the first 3GIG's are included in the so called ADSL line rental cost.

I know that one of you, (Telkom representatives) is looking at this post right now but you choose to remain in silence, its not by remaining that way that you are going to get the business you're losing on a daily basis back.

Start now, start this Christmas to try and conquer back the public that you have been nailing down all this time.

(I'm dreaming of a Telkom Christams) hehehe

Ok so what you're saying is they should make the first 3 gigs free. So if I wanted a R30 gig account instead of costing R2250 it'll now cost R2025. I'm sorry but your idea sucks!

That would only benefit people who stay under there 3gig cap.

No!! thats not what I am saying, what I am saying is that right now we are paying for ADSL line rental and that comes with 0 GIG's right?

What about including 3 GIG's on that line rental cost? Would it be better or you rather just pay for the line rental and get nothing in return?

The problem here is that in Telkom's version of reality they only supply the line. They have nothing to do with bandwidth:rolleyes:

For the line rental price you should get at least 50GB.

Bad idea - would force people to use TelkomInternet as their ISP.

Should be zero line rental

LOL GUYS .... LETS BE REALISTIC HERE ... the question is not what it should be or not .. its a start ... crawl before you can walk ... be realistic .. I can also ask for 1000GIG's for free but chances are 1 in 1 000 000 000

I would like to see Telkom slowly accepting what they've done ...

I vote for free ADSL ................ (not being realistic myself huh!! )

I am being realistic. IMHO 3 gigs is unrealistic. Thats a pittance compared to what we should be getting, but are denied because of Telkom's greed.

Nope, I'd rather pay the line rental as part of the ISP fee. The ISP being IS, don't want anything to do with Telkom.

Look we'll be relying on telkom for our lines for the forseeable future. What we should and could demand from them is reasonable rental fees ( say the same as a phone line and no obligation to take a phone line), and sane pricing to resellers. What i want is un restricted use of the internet at a reasonable price. I d be willing to pay what im paying now for my line and isp for an uncapped service, even though thats 3 times the price youd pay in the Uk for a line 4 times the speed.
Id rather be free from Telkom than get anything for free.

If I got close to the 1024/256 that I am paying for, I could live with it. As it is, I'm lucky to get spikes of more than 400k down - mostly under 300k. Oddly enough, upload speed tends to stay around 240k or sometimes higher.

They can stick the 3 gigs where the sun dont shine, and in Telkoms case.... thats a big area.

Drop the line rental.

WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR TWO LINES, ONE PIECE OF COPPER!!!

Off topic, I see Telkom has now added the e-rate for schools and the like...its about time, the legislation took effect from Feb this year.

Two lines? LOL! The one is.. what.. 92 rand? That's how much "ONE" line costs.
The 'other', is what.. R680? That's another 7 lines in your house bringing the total to 8. **** 2 lines.

Because that one copper wire now gives u more functionality.

A) u can phone people.
B) u can use ADSL. <-------- EXTRA FUNCTIONALITY i.e NOT FOR FREE.

makes perfect sense to me.

If u wanna complain about something complain about the price of bandwidth and the horrendous caps :)
