Meaning? My browsing/download/streaming speed will increase to 10mb or stay at 4mb?

Nah it will stay at 4mb cause Telkom just up the line speed. Since you got the 4Mbps uncapped bundle but your line can sync at 10Mbps thats why its higher. The account will be limiting your speed you get.

Ranger the Telkom isp un official rep said that telkom line and accounts are not the same department at all. So doubt they will change the speed.

Maybe we will see a rework of the do bundles when the new speeds are up and running cause they won't force people that got speed bumpes to pay more to upgrade their accounts......

If your line us syncing at 10mb but ur uncapped account is 4mb you should now get a full 4mb download rate. Possibly even a tad over 4mb.

My line is 4mb but I have a 2mb account with Ti. I dropped the ISP side down to becoz of congestion, I wasn't getting higher than 2mb after 3pm so I decided not to waste cash paying for speed I can't use.
My Speed test results are between 2.3 - 2.5mb, download speed is around 260kBps

Yes indeed. IF you have a 4Mbps account and a 4Mbps adsl line the speed you get of 3.35Mbps is actually the limit of the line coming into play there.

Yeah I saw his speedtest he is actually getting just over 4Mbps which is correct for 4Mbps uncapped account with a 10Mbps line. If it had been a 4Mbps line it would have been something like 3.35Mbps

Been on 6mbps in my area (Harmelia, Edenvale) for ever now. Telkom website says my exchange is 10mbps capable but when I call they tell me 6mbps max and no upgrades coming to the exchange for the foreseeable future.

Sigh... Telkom blows.

Confirmed by TelkomZA that its congestion :(

Sorry man, I'm also on a congested exchange. But I dont have it nowhere near as bad as what you do!

My fear is that as Telkom increases the line speeds our congested exchanges are only gonna get worse. I also forsee a whole new round of exchanges that weren't congested suddenly becoming congested. :(

I'm fearing so too... my congestion came about soon after the last speed increase and became progressively worse. Hopefully Telkom will upgrade sufficiently to accommodate the increased capacity requirement. Rumour has it that they are upgrading exchanges... hopefully before the freeze at the end of the year.

Bleh, I'll believe it when mine is upgraded :whistling:

+1000000

My exchange is scheduled for 20/40mb upgrade. I got so excited when I saw my exchange listed in the mybroadband article.
But that was over a year ago....

What I hear:

Telkom we hate you for not giving us 10 mbps, telkom you idiots.

Telkom we are paying for 4 mbps but only getting 2, hate you

What I see:

Telkom our internet is fast but because we are the 1% of users we want better speed

We are happy to pay you for a service that you cannot give us, here's next months cheque

My situation:

Thank God telkom got my line to sync at 1 mbps on a long copper run, that 384 kbps was horrible

You want to complain about your problems remember that telkom is trying to help the people that truly have crap internet, its your ass that will complain about them being helped and you not being helped that caused the whole problem in the first place.

I think you missed the point here completely.

We are saying we would rather have a stable connection than a fast connection that doesn't reach the speed we pay for.
Wouldn't it be better if Telkom setup an Exchange or a node closer to your residence thus enabling you to get better speed as well as a more stable connection?

What good will it help if Telkom bumps your line speed up to 2MB? You barely got 1MB working on your "long copper run".

Dude, people in your situation with long distances to their exchanges as well as those on congested exchanges are who we championing for. We would prefer better quality of service over speed.

Mysteriously my line has been upgraded (without me asking) to 2048
It had to be synched to 1024 as it was highly unstable

Looking at the current stats though, it seems to be much better - also downloading at a high rate

My line syncs at 8MB, but according to Telkom my exchange can only do 4MB. All we need now is for the ISP's to drop their process, so a 10MB account costs the same as the current 4MB accounts,

I noticed the same thing this morning on my router stats.

Did both of you have 1MB lines before and are now syncing at 2MB?
Can you post a speedtest result?

It would be nice if Telkom had an exchange upgrade rollout plan on there website.
