Hi guys

I got my VOIP phone set up through ISPAfrika today, and I got a number from them. The number starts with 021, so it seems like a normal CPT number.

Now my question: Would someone calling me from their Telkom line with a Weekender Package (that one where you can talk for free after 7 and over weekends) pay if they call me after 7 or would it be free?

I will really appreciate some help on this as my family use Telkom lines and they would like to call me after 7 and I don't want them to pay.

Regards
Jacques

The rates are variable... but NOT free... your ISP should have given you a schedule of costs when you signed up...

My question isn't whether I will have to pay, I know what rates I pay when I call out.

My question relates to when someone calls me, how much they will have to pay (and specifically whether it will be free after 7).

I think the Telkom weekender plan is just for on-net call, as they say. Would my number not form part of the Telkom network if it is a VOIP phone?

No, calls are charged to the caller under the "Other Operator" section on their Telkom account. This subject came up yesterday in another thread and I checked my Telkom accounts from the time when one of my clients tried VoIP before kicking it into touch.

Thanks MickZA.

Can you remember what those rates were?

Unfortunately I only have the option of VOIP as there isn't any copper lines in my apartment block, only fiber.

Can you remember what those rates were?

Last July it was R17.10 for 33:32 during business hours (VAT excl).

Don't know if my having a "Telkom unlimited anytime plan" impacts the rates.
