Hey guys,

I remember there was a Telkom Uncapped package where you would get free calls to Telkom numbers.
Does anyone remember the name?

It was the Telkom Simple Uncapped plan. I took this package when applying for my line. Looking at the website, seems this plan doesn't exist any longer.

The Telkom simple package is not offered anymore. You can get a Closer plan with your uncapped ADSL. Price difference is about R20 more than just having plain uncapped.

i had a 2mb uncapped package. The breakdown was R206 + 165. on the 4mbps line its R206 + R299

That package is still around, and the R206 is basically free calls weekdays between 7pm and i think 7am, and free on weekends. The voice is actually R189 + R17 for the weekender package

Does the Telkom uncapped still work the same, where if you do over 100GB worth of usage you get throttled to hell?

No. It depends on what time the data is used mostly and what it's used for. Afaik, None of the telkom uncapped accounts have a "limit" that low - Telkom isn't Mweb...

Okay. I remember a work around people did was to schedule their downloads from midnight until 6am

Yes, If you schedule most of your downloads between that time you can get away with alot more usage without being shaped.

So I've figured the following two "packages":

Package 1:
Telkom Evening and Weekend Plan (includes line rental: R206
ADSL line: R165
Uncapped package: R229
Total: R600

Package 2:
Line rental: R189
ADSL line: R165
Uncapped package: R229
Total: R583

So not much of difference unless I move my ADSL line rental & internet package with someone else. But then there will be the whole this ISP vs that ISP which unless you have a good suggestion I might as well stick with Telkom.
