Guys my adsl line has just been activated by telkom,i want a 1mb uncapped account from them.

Do i just call and ask them to activate the account?
Also will i get a free modem from them?

Only with a contract atm, you're better off buying one outright.

Yes just call em,its quick and easy take a few minutes and you up and running.

Like mickza says though just go buy a normal wifi modem they go quite cheap around R300 i saw them at a few places.

Make sure you get the Do 1Mbps uncapped account, it gives you R35 pm discount amounting to R164 pm.

Depending how much you want to spend, you can get a very efficient/reliable ADSL modem for under R200 (such as d-link/tplink/tenda). Rather do that then sign a contract for a 'free' dsl modem from Telkom

A buddy of mine went through this process, they claimed it was month to month but then signed him up for a 24month contract.

+1. If you want the modem you have to sign a 24 month contract, if you got the modem, you did sign a 24 month contract

You supposed to get your username and password immediately via sms,phone 10210 and speak to the internet department they will give you your username and password,dont put the phone down until you get it via sms.And if you dont have setting then let them walk you through it while you're on the line.

So i have the D-link modem and i set up the thingand it says under status connected but i cant seem to get any internet access?
