So weeks after the fact, Telkom Mobile has broadcast an SMS informing users of changes to the WiFi SSID.

I wonder which brightspark decided the SSID needed to be prefixed?

I complained about this recently and no-one blinked an eye.

Telkom Mobile hotspot at Clearwater Mall is broken again. Can connect but no throughout.

Telkom Mobile hotspot in Ruhama Drive is offline for a while now. I'm wondering why the hotspot names are prefixed by 1's??

Such a pity, the only two hotspots I use regularly and they're of no use to me.

Kinda indicates that TM WiFi is a fantastic idea but a really bad product if no-one notices these things.

Ever since they have done this I am unable to connect as well.

I have seven sims with 8ta and devices which were bought within the last three months that do not havE the right tyPe of authentication method. "EAPSIM"

This means that these devices will NOT be able to use the free wifi,

I do not think it is a bad product, problem is most of us are never around their hotspots long enough to use it.

Quite a few McDonalds have them. And in the past it worked fine. Just like Telkom to fix something that wasn't broke.

The point was that the SSID changed, breaking the WiFi service for everyone. No-one queried this.

The hotspots I frequent are also broken more often than not OR the speeds are so poor I'd rather just use 3G.

Good idea, badly conceived, poorly implemented, poor hotspot locations, really bad speeds.

It will take European Wi-Fi proceeds to get hotspots right. The ZA players have had an uncontested market for far too long. Their time is over now.
