Telkom VoWiFi or WiFi Calling

Hi all,
Has anyone been using Telkom's VoWiFi or WiFi calling?
I would like to use it when travelling overseas but have no idea where to start to get it provisioned or working.
Using a Huawei P20 Lite and the option is on under dialler settings.

If you see the option, then I assume:

1. You got a phone from Telkom.
2. VoWiFi is enabled on your SIM by network operator.
3. VoWiFi is enabled in the WiFi section of the Settings app (note: it is not a WiFi+, a different things).
4. You have a poor cellular signal.

Check all these things, there are all required for VoWiFi to work. The phone may ignore your selection if cellular signal is good, it makes a decision for you. Test it in a poor coverage area.

Could you explain in details what happens when you make a VoWiFi call? You are the first person reporting that Telkom has enabled VoWiFi.

EDIT: Call Telkom and disable international roaming, it was helping on other networks.

Hi Sajunky,

My problem is the provisioning of the SIM to enable VoWiFi.
Telkom's call centre has no idea what VoWiFi is and therefore cannot activate the service on the SIM.

Regarding you statements above, the answer is yes except for nr. 2 as I don't know who to contact to activate the service on the SIM.
 
I am aware of this FAQ, it seems they are preparing for a launch, not everything has been done yet - there is no official word yet. If you are going overseas now, your only option is Cell C. Vodacom is advertising a lot, but unfortunately you cannot depend on Vodacom, this service has never been reliable.

In other words, your only option that works is Cell C. Port a number to Cell C, disable international roaming (and perhaps local roaming for calls as well), ask for WiFi calling provisioning and pushing a carrier-specific update to your phone. Your phone is on Cell C compatibility list, it shouldn't be a problem.
 
Yeah i'm thinking of the same thing now also, just port to Cell C...work overseas for a couple months, come back and port it back to MTN since CellC coverage sucks...

As far as I know in Some cases I've found XFE to be from MTN

Ah, dont think it did. The closest I've gotten was when going to the simtool kit (that appears on the apps page after inserting the sim in the phone) and selecting International Roaming then Via other partners.

I'm able to select the option for VoLTE for the sim as well as wifi preferred under Wifi calling for the telkom sim but nothing happens.

Seems it's close to being close to launch

Sim 1 is Telkom, Sim 2 is MTN. As discussed earlier in thread both of them as well as Cell C on XFA.

So in summary on an XFA samsung:

mtn has volte only and vowifi option but not working.
Cell c has vowifi only
Telkom has neither working but both options.

Sure it will work soon enough...they had the t&c on their site for almost a year now...
