Why I ask myself?
After recent investigations i found some rather disturbing facts regarding to Telkoms ADSL offerings and wondered if some one can shed me some light on this interesting facts?
1. Recently advertised ADSL by Mweb. The offer: ADSL including line rental.
2. I investigated that advertised offering and found the following:
Mweb offers a *All Inclusive 3G & 4096K Line Rental @ R599 per month.
I was so upset when is looked at the fact:
1. When i applied at Telkom for ADSL line they forced me to have analgue line installed. I had to pay for ADSL installation and analogue installation.
2. I still have ADSl line rental and analogue line rental. Adsl @ R 516 pm and analogue @ R 138 per month. Thsi all excludes adsl access of 3gb.
3. My access of 5gb currently runs to R 389 per month. Total for adsl access at my place is R 516 + R 138 + R 389 = R 1043.
4. After calling on Mweb i have discovered that their package includes lin rental and 3gb access at R 599 per month. And after speaking to about 5 sales reps i concluded that analogue line is not neccesarry with ADSl from Mweb.
5. Telkom is then costing me R 444.00 per month more that Mweb. I i get to ask myself the following questions:
a) How does this work, meaning that Telkom owns the ADSL line structure and no one else can offer ADSL lines in S.A
b) Why do i have to pay Telkom more for the same services as with mweb?
c) Why am i forced to have a analogue (normal telephone line) installed when my requirements are ADSL?
d) Why does telkom cost me R 444-00 more than Mweb and i dont need an Analogue line with Mweb?
e) Even paying mweb R 599-00 per mont including 3gb and line rental, and Mweb should pay Telkom the R 516 per month for line rental, this means that Mweb only charges R 83.00 for 3gb access (very cheap indeed)
f) When i am a residential customer i pay cheaper and when i am a business customer i pay more for the same service?
I dont understand what is exactly the facts here but one thin is sure and that is either way that something does ot click here?
If someone can shed some light on this matter id appreciate it a lot.
Thank you
