Should i get the Telkom uncapped at 2mb or the Mweb uncapped at 2mb per second. They are about the same price.

You mean the Unthrottled Telkom Uncapped vs the Throttled Mweb Uncapped?

Only one winner and it ain't Mweb!
The reason i am considering this is that i have heard Telkom's internet speeds have been pathetic latley

mweb is DEAD as a door nail today. been using my cybersmart account. cancelled my mweb. jumping ship to telkom the end of the month.

Is this really true? I spoke to an MWeb employee and they said that the new telkom service (that they resell) gets throttled/shaped in the day quite heavily? o.O

Said employee is being very liberal with the truth... as from 1 February TI removed the daytime restrictions, which they hardly ever enforced anyways.

and... Mweb resell TI products????

MWEB resells SAIX products. The SAIX product we (TI) originally used for uncapped has the daytime restrictions. We moved off that set of products on 1 Feb, and the products we currently provide to our customers are not Telkom Wholesale products (kind of in the way IS products are not Telkom Wholesale products).

We had a huge migration, with a few niggles. We are working on one more problem. If you are in the Western Cape, now might not be the best time to switch, you should probably wait a few more days. If you are in other regions (KZN, Gauteng), everything has been looking very good since Saturday (9 Feb).

Been with Telkom uncapped for quite sometime without issues, got worried the Feb change introduced heavy shaping.. but its back to perfect now.

The other uncapped offerings don't cone close.

I just hope it stays this way.

Telkom throttling

I was also under the impression that Telkom has removed throttling in the day, I signed up for a 4mbps line a month ago, after downloading just over 100G my daytime data is now so slow i might aswell have stayed with iBurst...

This from my usage tracking tool:
"The status bar indicates your current utilisation this month.

The bandwidth consumption on your uncapped account has reached a stage whereby it is having a negative impact on the general performance of our network. In terms of the Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy, your account will be managed in a manner that allows us to optimise network efficiency for all users."

After only 100GB?

There is no usage data on this tracking tool if you are on uncapped, how are you to know when to slow down to avoid the MAD throttling? When does this throttling kick in? Not even telkom seems to know...

Oi, so disappointed I went with them, all hype and no uncapped...!!!

That cant be right, I've pulled twice that amount this month and my usage is still in the orange with not a sign of any throttling.
I'm on a 2MB package.
