Hi there

just a question here... trying to get telkom wimax(as advertised on there website) cos there is no telkom lines where I stay and there is perfect coverage for the wimax. using neotel lite at the moment and just to dam slow for me and installing it on a new machine is a nightmare. does not pick anything up so can not install it.

but my problem is now when i call any of the 3 numbers of telkom 0800375375 10217 or 10219 they all say I must go into a telkom direct shop and when I go into a telkom direct shop they tell me I must call 10219 or 10217 and no one knows what is going on. can someone give me some advice as to how I can get this service as I need it badly really badly for internet at home. don't want to go iburst or anything of the sort as I have an uncapped account that I can use already through work.

so your guys advice will be gladly apprciated.

From an earlier thread...
Forget about asking the call centres or Telkom Direct Shop staff for WiMax; they are brainwashed to speak you out of it. If you want an honest reply, send a fax to 012-3370116.

Provide initials, surname, ID number, copy of ID, Installation and Billing addresses and two contact numbers of which one should be a cellphone number.

Also insert the geographical co-ordinates as part of the installation address.

Possibly include the reason why you want WiMax - no cables in gated complex, high theft area, cannot game on 3g, etc.

They will tell you if you are in a WiMax area or not.

You could also try calling 10219 until you don't get an idiot consultant. I had to call three times before someone even acknowledged that yes, I could apply for Wimax telephonically. May be a bit of a pain, but call enough and you should find someone who can help eventually.
