On Friday 16/9/2016 my adsl speeds which would be 500-600kps speeds went down to 100-200kps.My landline phone voice line became very scratchy with no dial tone.I contacted Telkom & a fault no was created. My internet is working but at reduced speeds but my voice line is dead no dial tone nothing at all.Despite numerous calls using 10210 I was promised that my fault would be sorted out but after 11 days nothing has been done.I've been noticing though that I've never seen Telkom vans anywhere in my area.I live in Durban Sydenham district with the nearest exchange in Overport area.Every time I go past that area where the exchange is I hardly see any Telkom vans parked inside the Overport exchange complex. In the past I'd often see Telkom vehicles at the exchange. At the moment everything looks very quiet. It seem that because of an insufficient number of technicians that my problem isn't being attended to on time.In the past when I had problems a technician would come to home on the same day I reported to fault or on the next day. This time nothing from Telkom.According to them the fault lies on their side which I was told was a cable fault & there's nothing wrong with my line at my home.

All it takes is one of those idiots at the exchange to simply follow up on my fault & sorted it out. When this will be resolved I don't know.

Took me almost a month of nagging to get my fault resolved.

Get a proper WISP (do you research) and your problem is solved, best part is you don't have to deal with Telkom, you deal with a private company which if you choose the right one will deliver and be the end of your problem.

My speeds have also dropped heavily tonight. Can't even open an excel sheet through GDrive or load a thread with 1 image in this forum...

That's not all it takes unfortunately but a layman like you will be forgiven for thinking that's the case.

Latest I can state is that my fault was escalated to a technician on the 23/9/2016.Nothing so far has been sorted. When I got hold of Telkom today I was told to hold on so that the technician could be contacted. His phone of switched off.The lady from Telkom then sent an email to this man informing him of the fact that my fault needed to be attended to.Whether this will be sorted out soon I really don't know. Why would a technicians phone be off during working time sounds fishy. The lady from technical support told me that this shouldn't be taking so long to sort out my line problems.I'm hoping by next week things will be back to normal again.
