Not sure how long this has been available, though I don't recall it being posted by anyone else....

Telkom have now included two additional plans in their CLOSER package.. For R499 you get everything in plan 3, as well as DSL Up to 384kb (so you save R46 p/m in ADSL line rental), and in plan 5 you get DSL Up to 1024kb for R699 (so you save... R117 p/m in ADSL line rental)

Anyone upgraded to the new plans yet?

This plan is not worthwhile as for an extra R25 u can get free calls as opposed to paying for them.

Up to DSL 384kbps

The will only make sense if u have the phone options and internet as then it will be cheaper to combine them.

FALSE ADVERTISING: one cannot call to Vodacom and MTN and CellC or any of the VoIP providers for up to 60 minutes for "free" [anywhere in South Africa]...

Just take the C out of TELKOMCLOSER and you realise what you're letting yourself into this time - with Telkom it's all Chinese maths...

There're footnotes at the bottom of the page stating that free calls only apply to calls beginning and terminating on Telkom's network. They just don't have the *'s in the headings - though they do have them under the actual information..

:D sure but these were not stated in the advertisement that GangStarr posted in this thread [no offence GangStarr] :).

Cuz we have plan 3 at home... And then we pay for another line with 384k dsl...

N it works out to be alot more than 499..... :/

Im really gonna go and check up on this.. cuz that means i could most proberly get a 1024k for the same price as our two seperate bills put togeather...

CUZ

Plan 3 @ R300 per month
Unlimited FREE calls to anywhere in South Africa during Callmore time, up to an hour per call

1 000 inclusive minutes per month during Standard time

And then the current dsl cost 245.00 + 100 line rental = 345

345 + 300 = 645

That means for like an extra 60rand i get a 1024k?

Am i right in saying this?

Will you be tied into a contract or can you do this on a month to month bases? Because if it's month to month it won't hurt to try it out and see if you save. My only problem is I am on the 384 line now and I would like to try the 1024 line (Plan 5) (my math recons I could save a bit here considering the speed bump), but I want to know that if I'm unhappy with the results will I be able to revert back to my usual 384 without complications?

Ye thats exactly what i wanna know..

IS any1 on this plan at the moment?

Ye hosstheboss.... IF you do get it please let me know how it goes n all the details... Cuz ill only do it next year january if i do do it..

Thanks alot

I upped my plan 3 to plan 4, saves an extra R40 something a month which is equivalent to a free month in a year. By the way, Closer includes line rental costs and phone answer service, which I have disabled. If you spend more than around R220 per month on phone calls, excluding cell, then Plan 3 is a good option. If you have adsl as well, then plan 4 is worth looking at.
