TelkomInternet Capped Users - Feb 07

If Telkom stop this soft capping policy they will loose allot of costumer's.
Its in there best interest to keep it going!
Which is at least one good thing about them. at least.

telkom owns all the bandwidth that goes through, it just means they wont make as much :)

but then again all the other isp's cap you at 3 and telkom dont which means they are loosing out, but again they are not because bandwidth is way overpriced

i got capped 30min before the new month...

So.... Using Telkom as your ISP meens that you don't get capped as after 3GB download?
How could this be?
I've never even considered using telkom, but that mindset has change forsure!!

It's unfair business practice. They sell the bandwidth to the other ISPs, so the other ISPs have to cut you off when you reach your cap or they lose money.

Telkom are their own supplier, so they can give you however much they feel like.

Just goes to show that ISPs are being grossly overcharged.

Correct. It is difficult to know what to do.

Get a Telkom account and rape it to get something like your money's worth

OR use a local independent ISP that will hardcap you after 3GB, taking clients and money(which is all
they understand) away from Telkom forcing them to change their ways.

Sadly, many people will opt for the former which means that Telkom will always be able to overcharge.

All roads lead to the beast. Frankly I'm inclined to say rather get a Telkom account and rape it, because even if you do get an account elsewhere, 90% of the money goes back to Telkom AND they lose less bandwidth to you.

So if you get a WebAfrica 3GB account:
R199/3GB = R66.33/GB
Telkom probably get at least R50 of that.

Telkom (and lets say you get 6GB off your 3GB account):
R249/6GB = R41.5/GB

Perhaps we should all switch to Telkom. :p They'd either be forced to hard cap or raise prices, giving other ISPs more of a chance.

This is true. Some good points you have made.
