Hi Guys,

MY is ISP is TElkom Internet 2gb 384

Just a Quick Question. A few days ago when i was capped i found that instead of total restriction like before I could still access all local sites and downloads - Does this mean that TelkomInternet subscribers now have an unlimited local cap? Will this be permanent?

THanks Guys,
stfury

Unlimited 4mbps local news.saix.net downloads then?
How about downloading all the linux distro's also... getting close to 750gb of data per month... i normally do about a gb per hour on 4mbps :)

Gdiza and Mercurial. If you have nothing to add except your useless comments then rather dont post at all. This is a forum and people can ask their stupid questions over and over. This is the point.

TelkomInternet is now giving customers 10gigs of local for every 1gig of international. Yes it currently seems to be uncapped as it is in a testing phase. but for example, if you have a 3gig account you will get 30 gigs of local after you hav used up your international.

new month no cap refresh?

Hi there,

I was capped last month and could only access local sites im on telkominternet 3gig.

I was looking forward to browsing some sites this afternoon (the 1st of jan) but i find that i am still capped? i can only access local sites :(

Does the cap not refresh on the 1st of the month?

suggestions anyone?

OK, let me get this straight:

Say you have 1Gig. During that 1GB, local internet still counts towards your quota. Only after you've reached your capped does your local access get pushed to 10GB:1GB (you had) for the remainder of the month.

At the moment, said local access is free and uncapped.

Pooky please link to where you get your 10 gig per 1 gig info or in fact anyone else who believes this, because everyone I know with telkominternet accounts have gone way over 30 gigs local.

The info was on Telkom's site for a few days. Also mentioned in a MyBroadband article, as well as in the huge thread discussing the new November capping policy. You can search for it if you like :)

Nope... My cap is always reset at 00:00 on the 1st, thankfully.

Your information about it being on telkoms website for a few days is enough for me to say that there is no system in place, november there was no such system in place as when I mentioned earlier people far exceeded the 1gig/10gig.

As far as articles are concerned I have a vague memory about 1 gig 10gig that got discussed well before last month.

Searching for useful information in these forums is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, lots of people jumping to conclusions about rumors, the same questions asked over and over and over and same moaning over and over.

But back on topic there is in otherwords no current information by telkom saying this structure exists and no proof that its in place at least last month, so we are still in the dark.

Exactly, there is no system in place now. Local is currently free and uncapped. Initially TelkomInternet announced that one would get 10GB "free local" with every 1GB bandwidth purchased, and that any usage over the "free local" allowance could be charged for at +-R20 per GB.

Thanks for that, to be honest I think this "trial" period could be a long lasting thing, its kinda like a "we give you uncapped local unofficially" thing to be, well at least I hope it is. This way they get to give uncapped local without the other isp's being able to complain.
