You will still be able to check on http://adsl.telkomsa.net

yes, but adsl.telkomsa.net has never actually reflected anything near the amount i have done on my account and i hate waiting for a few days for it to actually update.

ok the only thing I can see is that most people are capped at 20GB+, except one ...

I am getting close to 25GB, I might not have long to go :(

Atleast I have a 3GB WA account to fall back on.

November 2005 632 G, did not get capped
December 2005(1) 65 G, got capped on the 7th.
December 2005(2) 362 G, got capped on the 28th
January 2006 3G, got capped on the 2nd

From the daily email recieved from telkom on what your usage is:

TelkomInternet have opted to offer you an average usage option that will keep you
online until such time that the average usage for all subscribers reaches the
service threshold.

This means that we are allowing unrestricted access beyond your threshold instead of
simply curtailing the service. However, your service may be discontinued once the
average usage for all subscribers has been reached. You will then be required to
top-up your threshold to remain online.

The usage tracking website went offline (and the emails stopped) for a 5 day period at the end of December 2005. After that the wording of the email changed (as above). So I think they may have updated their monitoring code and implemented this system starting January 2006.

What does that mean? If I paid for 3GB, and then used 30GB before I was capped, must I now buy a minimum of 28GB to continue using my ADSL line. Or if I buy another 1GB, will I be able to use another 1GB?

I've got a 2Gb Telkom acc, and have managed about 6Gb this month. Haven't been capped yet, but frequently it's like my Internet 'stops responding'. Then I have to switch router off, wait ten sec's, switch back on, stop the downloads in Bitcomet, close it, re-open it, and then it will carry on downloading at normal speeds.

Telkom don't increase the limit on accounts. They would require that you buy another 2 or 3 GB account.

Got capped yesterday on 23 gigs...

I hate Telkom so very much
You paid for 2 or 3, but got 23.... You should love them :p

so anyone figured out the capping system?

you can earn yourself a Ph D if you reveal it :D

It is a very simple and elegant capping formula that is being used. Every month your previous download total is divided by 1.4 and this becomes your cap for this month. Eventually when you reach the 3 gig cap that you paid for, your actual cap will only be 1.4 gig, but your stats at SAIX will be inflated 1.4 times so that you don't feel that you are being ripped off.

Ps. Please send the PhD to Steve White as he gave me the idea for this research.

well, you will need to work little more than that for your Ph D ... need a proof, prove that everyone who posted numbers to this thread does indeed fit into your formula :D
