Telkom's new "soft Cap"

You did not use it once this month and now wanted to use everything on one day to test the softcap, correct?

Problems with new services is not exclusive to Telkom. If you browse around the forum, you will find other providers who also had issues during a launch or new add on services. Afrihost to MTN for one.

Yes I did not use this account as it is an fallback account for my work
I used it for testing since another account I was on also softcapped and I just tried one I knew could not be softcapped

... and is this account working now that all the soft-caps have been reset for the new month?

When Telkom announced their new “soft cap” policy there was much jubilation, they said that you would
get a reduced speed but would still be able to browse.

What a joke, I hit the “soft Cap” last night, I noticed that I could do pretty much bugger-all. No pop3 mail,
no browsing, nothing, all you get is a stupid Telkom redirection that tells you “ you have reached this
page because you have hit the soft cap limit….click here for options.

Clicking here...takes you to a page where you can buy a top up…

I thought perhaps once you get the “information page” that it would store a cookie and the next attempt
would get you to google.co.za at the reduced speed.
All you get is the redirection page..

Why did Telskum bother with all the announcements, all they have done now is cap your account and give
you the option to buy top up while you are capped.

…and here we thought Telskum were doing something good for a change….they are still the same morons..

You're lucky.

My phone line went dead.

Waiting for a technician...

I realy dont see how this will be helping me now since i tried using it yesterday it would have needed to serve its purpose as a backup account. (failing so bad at it)
Will test what it's doing once im home since I cant just change accounts at work wile people are working

And just to prove a point.
This account could not have been softcapped and the amount pulled in 3hours was my 7Mb line running flatout only doing 288Mb in that time while on skype and trying to play online

How do we check to see if we were on the soft cap system or if we never reached our 20gig limit because we sailed through Feb with no hiccups?

Historical usage is being kept, and should be available at some stage in the future. The tracker is displaying your current month-to-date usage, and hopefully email notifications will also return in a week or two.

Typical Telkom. First blame you and then say nothing

And also just for Rangers information.
Line feels like its softcapped again only did 3.4GB "Really" looked on TI Tracker amazed that it works not showing soft capped.
Line speed down to 384 speeds and youtube videos not working.
Test on IS account 100% working

Edit
Test from another Telkom account confirms this
Download Speed: 134 kbps (16.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
