Telkom's September big deal offers 500MB Anytime data plus 10GB Telkom data each month, with a Huawei E5573 Router, for R139pm x 24. My area (Robindale, Randburg) is not yet covered by LTE. So:

1. What will the result be if I use this modem? I presume I can, and I'll just get 3G speeds?
2. Anyone know when LTE will be rolled out to my area?

Depends on their mood. If your area isn't covered by LTE, there's a very good chance you can't get the deal. A friend had to trick the system to get the same deal because his area didn't have LTE coverage & they denied his application.

Hmmm, interesting. What's to stop me from saying I'm getting it for my sister, who is in an LTE area?
 
They do not check coverage for this deal.

Got the deal on the 1st all-ready, really worth the price.
 
Got it no problem. The Telkom store at Cresta on Friday morning at around 10:30am was empty... got served immediately.

Just did a speedtest with the included modem, and got: Ping: 18ms; Download: 23.5Mbps; Upload: 2.21Mbps (4G connection)

With my old modem (different sim, on my existing Telkom mobile contract): Ping: 23ms; Download: 7.34Mbps; Upload: 3.73Mbps (3G connection)

Just a note - as far as I can tell, they pro-rata the standard included 500MB and the 500MB night surfer data, but you get the full additional 10GB Telkom Mobile data, regardless of when in the month you take out the contract.

Edit: Looks like it starts eating up the Telkom Mobile additional data first, leaving the 500MB all-networks data until last (or for when you're in an area with no Telkom Mobile coverage)

This deal is NOT on the Smartbroadband option according to the sales agent at Telkom store?

Any idea when we will hear of the Summer Deals ? Is that only in October?

The staff went for training already, should be within 11 days time [LIT_ android box launches 20th September] is my guess. :)

The deal is fantastic compared to the last few months of deals they've had. :p

The R139 Mifi 10GB deal or the LIT deal - which one are you referring to as fantastic ? Both ?
