im not sure if anyone has brought this up. ( i have not been on for a while )
but according to Telkom everyone should be upgraded already. ( 192 to 384, 512 to 1024 or 1024 to 4096 )
if you are not upgraded please let me know

As far as i know, the 512 were never planned to be upgraded to 1024...

ye. its the first that i heard about it today.
and i put this post in the wrong place :(

Doubt the 512K ppl will be upgraded to 1024K

384 should be upgraded to 1024, and 512 should be upgraded to 2048.

Then we have 1Mbps, 2Mbps and 4Mbps. That would be normal. 384k, 1Mbps and then 4Mbps is silly.

/me continues dreaming

Speed Test result... yechhhh

Got this speed test result on 6-9-2006:

Your line speed is approximately 157.7 Kbps or 19.3 kBytes/sec

The upgrade is far from complete.

I just thought I'll spread the word on how to get some proper service out of Telkom. My 192kbps ADSL line was installed during May of this year. However, I kept having problems with speed, and the line going down from time to time. Great was my joy when I heard that Telkom was going to upgrade my 192kbps line to 384kbps, for free, during August. However, until today, I was still connected at only 192kbps. Telkom said the line can't sync at a higher speed, despite me living in the middle of Pretoria (not exactly the platteland). So, I sent an email to Beeld, to their "Tot u diens" service. Telkom received my letter from Beeld yesterday. Two different Telkom employees called me today during the day, to tell me that they are investigating the situation. I just checked my connection speed, and I'm finally connected at 384kbps!!! On the same line as I was using previously - which supposedly couldn't handle anything faster than 192kbps. I'll see over the next couple of days what happens, and if I continue at this speed.

So, if you want Telkom to do stuff, go to the media!!!

do wat he did....
