@telkomsa.net email down?

BTW, Does this "so-called hourly limit and DHAP issue" also affect IMAP setups?

Not as far as I have experienced; it's random and limited to email acceptance on the Telkom server.

I have a telkomsa.net email address that I have had since I first got ADSL at 384kbps and it has been giving me serious uphill since late last year. I am busy trying to migrate to gmail, you don't realise just how many places you need to change that email address and how many logons use it as your username. Some of the changes were easy, I'm now getting to the difficult ones and its becoming a mission.
Also, those with telkomsa.net emails, are you getting a ton of spam nowadays?

Yes! But it is difficult to say if this is as a result of a Telkom issue or the three cases (those that I know about) where our info has been leaked starting with the now infamous CW one, or, as a result of Telkom no longer doing anything about spam control with their Spam quarantine process that is either not working anymore or has been abandoned.

I strongly suspect the latter.

So in this day and age when email contact with companies has become even more important than in the past, the support from major email service providers in SA is going down the tubes?? Increasingly, it is an embarrassment to say to anyone you have anything to do with IT and telecoms!

Let all of us old-timers come back to work! We will kick the riff-raff out and re-establish a culture of pride, quality and real customer service in no time!

I must be really lucky as no problems with both telkomsa.net and webmail.co.za are encountered at all, not even spam. I keep those as throwaway email addresses.

Let us in on your secret, we would be very interested to understand how you have escaped the increase in spam many are experiencing on their telkomsa.net addresses.

I have been having similar issues, but its with sending and receiving emails.
Logging multiple calls with them has proved fruitless.

When I see the e-mails that I have sent are not being received I end up sending it from gmail and cc my telkomsa.net.

Yes, I have done the same. But before one can get to a resolution, the problem disappears. Hence why more digging revealed this noise about "hourly limits" and "DHAP". BTW, the DHAP issue is very badly explained by Telkom at this stage.
And, in the meantime, quite a few "services" ordinary subscribers have with Telkom have since ceased to work, as well as a very effective Spam quarantine service which was in place before.

If I go on what happened to me, I had access to the spam quarantine service up to November 2018. It worked and I regularly used to get e-mails from the server, which I used to then access the server and clear out spam and add more domains and addresses. Then my PC failed. Once I re-activated email on a new PC, the spam quarantine access simply vanished, and immediately, an increase in spam showed up. It is almost as if Telkom maintained the service until they detected you were not using it anymore and then you lost the service.

The real issue is NO formal response from Telkom. Emails to them go unanswered. Calls made about the issues get you nowhere. And no acknowledgement of the loss of services previously available to Telkom ISP customers.

I have no secret, it might be that it is a very old one before addresses where sold or distributed by other vendors.
I also don't use it for daily transactions, it's only used when I need a throwaway address.

So I have just checked which services we no longer seem to have access to:

1. Spam Quarantine ---- can no longer access this service
2. userstats.adsl.saix.net -- even though my password was accepted - no stats available
3. Fixed IP address settings --- no longer available to residential subscribers
4. Webmail access is now enforced via the Telkom Internet access portal -- the short cut that used to be available is gone, even though the TIA still takes you to the same login page.
5. The webmail portal no longer provides a link to the spam quarantine service. All you can do is mark emails as spam and then clear the junk mail box.
6. Direct access to your Internet profiles.

Re: 2: Geoff.D, I use this stats page almost every day, for multiple accounts. Works for just about any isp account. Only problem is it has no logout mode, so I just open it in a new incognito window each time, therefore no cookies set. You sure you have the right adsl username?
Re: 4: http://webmail.telkomsa.net/

Just received this from Telkom ([email protected]):

Good Day
Thank you for contacting Telkom Technical Support.
We apologise for the inconvenience and delay,
Kindly be advised we are having problems with emails from gmail domain to telkomsa.net domain, we are aware of the issue and we are currently working on it.
Should it be anything else but related to Technical Support, Please open a new ticket by emailing your query to [email protected] as the old ticket will be closed.

Thank you for your patience.Have a Joyful Day!
Kind Regards
Telkom Technical Support.

Thanks for the feedback. At least you got some response from Support! Why they keep closing dockets is another management issue, probably tied to a KPA/I !
Just again reflects on no decent management expertise!
Thanks for the other tips, I have come right with webmail, but not yet with access to the stats. Amazing what disappears when one changes laptops !

Hi I’m having issues with sending emails from iPhone . When sending through the smtp servers that telkom gives me ie smtp.saix.net , smtp.telkomsa.net and smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net and I’m on MTN it says relay access denied. But because their servers don’t allow authentication I had to setup my own smtp server to send . I was able to use my own smtp server for the past couple of years now from last week it says bounce error on my mail routes and won’t allow to send. Does anyone have an answer on how to setup their smtp servers on iPhone to send from any isp?
