Temperature and Petrol Gauge "Overshooting"

Both my temperature and petrol gauge point way past the overheating/full mark.
It's so exaggerated, that when the car is running on reserve, the needle still points over the full mark.

How do I fix it?

My car did so when the battery was semi-dead. Maybe have yours checked?

It's a Tazz, does it even have electronics

Common problem on the Toyota Corolla (E90), haven't driven or been in one that doesn't have some kind of gauge fault. A Tazz is actually a Corolla (E90) btw.
