Hi All

Some advice please.

I recently putchased a Lux Power 5kW inverter and the 5.12kw Shoto battery. I intend to install it to my db board but my electrician is out of town for a couple of days.

Is it possible for me to set it up temporarily by wiring the AC Input of the inverter to a wall plug and connecting an extension lead to the AC output of the inverter? In this way I can at least get my wifi up during load shedding. The battery can charge while there is no load shedding.

Seems like a waste to have it standing idle while there is load shedding.

Yes you can.
 
I would advise against this. There's probably config and commissioning needed on the inverter before it's used?

Do you have this already? Purchase from a legit supplieR?
 
I would just use a resistor to precharge before connecting battery to avoid the spark and protect caps inside inverter.

You are a man, right? If yes, you can, just don't mess it up.

Make sure battery is switched off, it should be but just make sure, same with the inverter.

You don't need a breaker because the battery has an on/off switch. You will also need to change the settings on the inverter, if you can do all that then voila, no one deserves to sit in the dark with an inverter and battery.

If you are still not confident after this pep talk then don't do it.
 
Why would that be a problem?
Sorry, I'm used to commenting on LA replacements, after reading your post I realised it has an on off switch so there is no spark issue.

In my defence, it's still wise to precharge capacitors in the inverter before hitting the on switch as the low resistance of lithium can damage them with the inrush.
