Terrible Service rant

VAT on a second hand vehicle? I was under the impression they would only pay VAT on the profit they make... And besides, you saw it for R280k, that price is VAT inclusive surely, since when are prices to the public displayed ex VAT?

Or am I being very confused this late on a Friday?

Is that illegal? Adding VAT afterwards.. Should be. Anyone you could report this to?

I've given up on that car ... probably a sign to stay away.

Has Supergroup got a better name than CMH ?

Just an update :

They have seen the post and the GM has phoned to apologise for the service. Further more, if I wanted to carry on with the deal, he'll handle going forward.

I'd still walk if I were you.

My Dad owned 2, the 850 T-5 and the S60 T-5. They are very nice cars, smooth, powerful (obviously the turbo ones).

The aftersales service and cost to maintain those cars - is just insane.

The S60 - it went through 3 radiators in 3 years - luckily under warranty. The forth year after motorplan expired, they said the radiator needs to be replaced again...i told my dad to ignore volvo and go to a radiator place (Silverton radiators) nothing wrong with the radiator, the expansion bottle or the water bottle was leaking!!!

look we all have stories like this, so my dad got rid of it...

enjoy your volvo while its still issue free, hope you never have issues

230000 kms on my XC70 and 0 big issue. Although I avoid CMH for services, Tom Campher is way better.

Its amazing how businesses stay going when service like this is the norm. I'd walk away.

I recently showed interest in purchasing a old vehicle from a dealership (non-franchise), one phone-call (not returned), email, Gumtree messages, SMS and multiple whatsapp messages (all read) - and I got almost zero response, just an offer to do a trade in via whatsapp, and then flat out ignored.

Almost a month later and I see the vehicle is still for sale. Oddly enough, I now have the cash, but stuff that.
