Can't wait for my contract to end in a few months.
iBurst has been unusable in the last few months.
Initially i was told to get an antenna, did so, and it made no difference. CONSTANT disconnects..... probably about 20 times an hour(during the day), at night time it is probably once an hour.
Support staff keeps saying nothing is wrong on their side.... YEAH !@#$ing right. I am not able to use the crappy service... how can everything be fine. It might be a good idea to take some responsibility at some stage.
I am glad i will be spending my 1K a month on some other service provider.
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE service.
UPDATE
Received a call from iBurst, they asked me to update my firmware.
UPDATE
iBurst is sending a Techie free of charge
UPDATE
I chased the Techie away, he wants to ****ing tie my pole with a piece of wire, he tells me that 64kbps is perfect for a 2mb modem with a directional antenna in an area with good signal. Techie updated my firmware (again), and left as i requested him to do
UPDATE
Techie's boss phone me, saying they are coming back ... will keep you posted
UPDATE
Techie is back erecting a new pole.... i am not paying a cent for this, thats for sure
UPDATE
Throughout the process i was told how badly the previous pole erection was. They now erected a new one in a different place, and pointed it to a new location. My ping and speedtest is worse than what it was before they did it. Techie said it must be my modem. iBurst will apparently phone me on Monday,
UPDATE 25 Nov 2014
iBurst has now decided to ignore me completely. No calls, no PM's no emails, nothing. It is completely quiet.
Cancelled iBurst, and i need to pay 4K for cancellation.... money well spent. Contacted Telkom, and my Voice line will be installed within the next two weeks. Still undecided on the ISP and Package
CAN'T WAIT for my new internet experience
, and i am still trying to process the terrible service i have received.
iBurst probably does not even care, but neither do i
this is the best day of my life, my next best day will be when dsl goes active, cause until then i still sit with the crappy iburst non-service.
UPDATE 25 Nov 2014
Peter from iBurst gave me a call just now, they are going to test a few modems, once they find a suitable one they will give it to the technician and bring it to my house and replace mine.
Today's effort and Thursdays effort has to be applauded, as there are few service providers out there that will actually send technicians out, replace antenna and replace modem.
Unfortunately it makes a mere dent in the overall service received thus far.
I am still switching to DSL, but will keep iburst as a backup in case something goes wrong.
iBurst went from receiving 1K a month to R149. It might not make a difference, but it certainly reflects the quality of the service they supply.
UPDATE 27 Nov 2014
iBurst replaced my Modem, there is no change... techie took a few speedtests, was confident at sayin "The line is more stable".
Speeds are pretty much the same, and by that i mean, it fluctuates, and if you take the highest he got then it is like 10KB/s faster than what my avg was... all-in-all, the avg is still the same
New Antenna: CHECK
New Firmware: CHECK, CHECK, CHECK, CHECK, CHECK
New Modem: CHECK
New Base Station: Check
Better Speeds: :wtf:
Better Latency: :wtf:
Better iCall: :wtf:
I just wish they would admit that the service that deliver (referring to throughput) is not even close to what they promise.... yes.... if you live next to the base station, and you are on a farm, where you are the only person using it, then you will probably get decent speeds (decent = relative)
UPDATE 1 Dec 2014
My iCall is not working today, not even a dial tone
UPDATE 2 Dec 2014
Held on the line for around 20 min's to get my iCall sorted, the guy answered and acted as though he could not hear me, then he dropped the call. All this was done from my mobile, cause iCall is not working
