I have noticed the old farts are increasingly seen as racist these days by the woke brigade funny enough.

Given the liberal arts educations they likely received they would have known enough about the other religions to poke fun at them.... no direct contact required.

I have noticed that people that dislike christianity for whatever reason usually fall into the group that worships this python lot..... which is ironic since a python is a serpent but nevermind that.

For what it's worth I do remember the bit of the protestants having almost no children and the catholics having too many being slightly funny only spoilt by the forcedness of it.
They do poke fun at Jews as well.

I would say a good chunk of their humour doesn't make fun of any religion. They just make fun of everyone.

Offense list:
  • Canadians
  • Lumberjacks
  • Royal Canadian Mounted police
  • Transexuals

Do Christians who consider MP as being offensive also consider Passion of the Christ as being offensive - both depict Christ in a manner that cant be verified?

Cultural context.

You might as well complain they didn't make enough fun of Japanese society. Why were they always so focused on making fun of the British?

Anyway they hardly ever had anything religious in their material. And when they did it was invariably mocking the church or dogma. Life of Brian doesn't mock Christianity. The scene in Meaning of Life is mocking the Catholic Church, not Christianity. Life of Brian also has some hilarious scenes where they mock the left-wing of the day.

The Bible depicts Jesus in a way that can't be verified too.

So no logical reason to assume fans dislike Christianity
