During the recent return of load-shedding, many South Africans suffered extended periods without electricity.

The national power grid remains under incredible strain, with the possibility of further power cuts constantly looming over residents.

Well, it's essentially what Eskom are planning with their giant battery project. Getting everyone power walls is probably going to be cheaper after all the corruption takes its toll on the Eskom project.

13.5kw/h is huge, you would need 5.6 of these to equal powerwall and there's no inverter:

It's the right size for a medium household for probably 8 - 12 hours but lithium ion batteries can be had for cheaper if you look at the cost per kWh.

5kva is fine if you are running gas geysers, stove, oven, heaters, etc. 9 panels is not a lot though, 18 - 20 is a more reasonable number for a medium household.
