Just a question, will it work if i host a test webserver on a local only adsl account, since it will only be serving to test users in south africa. If it does work it will make it much cheaper than to buy international GBs

Regards all

As far as I am aware , a web server on a ADSL account will be slow as the UPLOAD speed of the ADSL line is being utilised.

If all your users are in SA there won't be a problem - local only bandwidth will be fine :)

True for the most part, unless your visitors are MWeb users and you're hosting on TelkomInternet (or vice versa), because these two ISP's have no local peering in place so traffic between them acts as international

Yeah good point.
But 99% of ISP's are peered already, so shouldn't pose too much of an issue.

its not that bad it all depends on how many users you will be serving and what type of content i know of a few companies ofcourse small that host there own webserver and that's cause majority of the content is used inhouse and only 10-15% of the server load comes from the internet at it seems to be doing just fine.
