Ok so I'm looking at getting a new dashcam, and Viofo units are extremely well-rated.

Now maybe lots of you will laugh at me for "discovering" this now, but why is it so much cheaper to buy on the Amazon US store and ship to South Africa, compared to buying it on Amazon South Africa?

And would Amazon South Africa still offer a guarantee and return process on tech from its Amazon US store shipped to South Africa?

TLDR: Viofo A119 Mini 2 2K costs R4955 on Amazon South Africa, while the newer and better Viofo A119M Pro 4K costs R3245 on Amazon US including shipping and import duties. WHY, Amazon, whyyyyyyyyyy?

Don't think so. Pretty sure it says: 'free international returns' somwhere on those orders. But ja - also ordered something last year that was considerably cheaper on Amazon US with all the shipping & import fees.

Why wouldn't you just let Amazon ship it then? Seems like a huge detour for no reason at all.
Exactly my thoughts. I'm sure Amazon would ship it more cheaply. They're offering shipping to South Africa for R263 and import duties of R614 ... I don't see Aramex being any cheaper.

I've yet to find cheaper than Amazon. Also just gets more complicated involving a 3rd party.

Yes, with the name "STARVIS" I can see why it's not meant for third world locales...
Dude, don't get me started. The whole world is using StarVis 2 sensors from Sony as a standard in even entry-level dashcams ... while here in South Africa we are swamped with nameless sensors that are all equally trash. Who do we blame for that? Even Amazon can't or won't land Viofo any cheaper in South Africa, not unless you change to their US storefront. I'm guessing it is down to regional licensing deals.

Or, skip import duties and buy locally with local warranty support:

Bought my Viofo from them earlier this year..

Wow!!! Awesome lead! How do you rate their service, and the Viofo itself?

Their promise and price is fantastic ... right there in the "too good to be true" territory:

Amazon SA will have nothing to do with Amazon US.

But Amazon US will happily honour the warranty etc and shipping return the item and replace it or refund it.

I had no issues dealing with them.. My order was delayed due to shipping issues with a courier, but they were upfront with the information when I asked about the reason for the delay and their support was overall great..

Pretty sure a few other MyBB cadres used them before as well..
