Get a mesh router set, then interconnect them with the LAN cable you mention.I want to extend my fibre network by connecting a 40m LAN cable to it; and adding a WiFi-repeater to connect and re-distribute the signal. Any suggestions?
I’d argue that for general usage and streaming etc there’s not much of a perceivable difference from around the 40mbps mark per user. At least currently.I've recently downgraded from 1 Gbps to 100 Mbps and didn't notice the difference. I don't know why I went up to 1 Gbps to start off with.
Just another AP connected to that cable would do the job just fine as long as it’s configured correctly. Ie. DHCP disabled etc. if you want to get fancy for management purposes a mesh pair as @Nephew_ suggested with a wired or wireless uplink would work. You are doing it wrong if your TV is using WiFi...Really don't see what the point is in having such a stupid fast connection.
Most wireless devices ie. phones and TV's aren't even capable of reaching 1Gbps.

I think I'd get more if If could find a better speedtest server.
So MyBB test servers are not configured for thos speeds, hence the 'slow' speeds - but it's not clear from the below whetherOOkla are or aren't ? He only got 4.3Gbps - so is the link slow or the server also not configured?

It should be noted that the MyBroadband servers used to perform these speeds tests are not configured for such high-bandwidth connections. Most South Africans — many of whom primarily access the Internet through a mobile device — have Mbps Internet speeds that often measure in just the double digits. On Ookla’s platform, he recorded download and uploaded speeds in excess of 4.3Gbps, and the same 1ms ping.

I did not know that, that's very interesting.Speedtest.net tests to 4 servers at a time where the mybb test will only be from that single server.

I live in Switzerland and have a 10Gbps connection since 2016. Downloading updates, installing games, etc. is just so much faster and simpler.Really don't see what the point is in having such a stupid fast connection.

I agree that most devices do not have high speed connections, but 2.5Gbps desktop lan ports are almost standard on most desktop motherboards. 4 of those desktops and you are at 10Gbps.
It is just a matter of time before it is the norm.
Some may ask what the 10Gbps FTTH connection costs in Switzerland, it is the equivalent of R400 per month.
