Testing ASDL Speed

Hi, I have a home 512 account with Telkom. My ISP is MWEB with 3GB account.

1. Is there some way to establish what speed I am getting? ie Am I getting what i pay for? I have run following speed tests :

MWEB Result 406 kbps
Telkom Result 426 kbps
A Beltonica Results for various locations world wide: varies between 347 and 474 kbps.

2. As can be seen none of results come anywhere close to 512!

3. Is my connection good or would I be better off with a 384 connection

thats adsl for you - never at a constant stable speed! - it can never be like isdn which is constant at stable

and also it is ADSL and not ASDL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
