Tether blackberry bold on a Mac

I am also battled with my 9700 Bold to setup bluetooth/USB tethering. I finally tried setting up the Bluetooth & USB connection with "Blackberry Desktop Manager" running in the background and this seemed to work as far as the setup is concerned as all the setting were filled in automatically, accept I had to change from CDMA to GSM connection. However, I still have not got it working as now I need to know what Telephone Number, Account Name and Password to use. I understand using *99# as the phone number does not work on MTN for Blackberry tethering and the phone number looks more like a web address specific for the Blackberry. Maybe someone can confirm this and these settings.

Blackberry Bold 9700 + MacBook Pro

Aha, Have got it working on MTN !!!!

Change APN from "internet.com" to "internet"

Telephone Number - *99#
Account Name - wap
Password - wap

For anyone else trying to do this on a mac:

on BlackBerry:

Under advance settings->tcp/ip

enable apn settings. Set apn to internet
enable authentication, but leave username and password blank.

on Mac:

1. Install blackberry desktop manager
2. Open network preferences
3. Click on RIM Composite Device
4. enter the following settings:
Telephone number: *99***#
Account Name: web
Password: web
5. Click "Advanced"
6. Select:
Vendor: Research in Motion
Model: Blackberry IP Modem (CDMA)
APN: internet
CID: 1
7. Leave everything else as default
8. Click apply
9. hit connect.

you're connected.

Hi,

I am trying to set up my blackberry 8310 on a Mac with 10.5.8. I have set the APN on the BB to internet. But I do not see anyone in my network setting under bluetooth to set the APN. Under the Advanced TAB I only have Model: 8100, and Vendor: Research in Motion. Do I need to go somewhere else on the Mac to set it up. What Mac OS are you using? 10.6?
