I have been having the same issue on my laptop.
Cant for the life figure out why. Have even installed a fresh copy of windows on the laptop but seems to be able to only see the sd card. other drivers seems to be failing everytime I want to use the phones internet connection. HTC Desire HD had a update some time ago and I have been having this problem since then

Your problem can be solved in a few different ways. Number one, is to enable the wireless hotspot found on most HTC and some other Android phones. If you use this, you don't need to worry about a cable as they phone itself acts as a mobile hotspot, using your data bundle to give you access to the internet (works just fine with my HTC Wildfire, no extra software required). The other thing that you may try is to go into your settings and make sure that the phone asks for a connection type on connection, in other words, when you connect the usb cable, the phone will ask whether you want to use it as a mass storage device or as a modem ect.

Hi johnnybfn

what error messages are you getting ?
As that can help us to see if on our side.
Have you done any upgrade on the phone recently?
