Tethering vs Modem

Hi Guys,

This is a noob question as up to now I have not needed to use 3G, is there a big advantage be it financial or speed wise to use a 3G modem vs. using my BB with USB...

And what do these modems go for I don't want to get a contract.

I've found the modems are faster than using a tethered mobile phone. I guess it is because the modems can have more space inside dedicated to the antenna, they don't have to try and squeeze in a screen, a keyboard and a battery.

And what do these modems go for I don't want to get a contract.

Anything from R500 to R2000, depending on the specs.

Totally agree with Ginngs, get a proper modem, ive found from personal experience the phone internal modems are not as strong.
