So I bought the Orange Box this weekend, installed Team Fortress 2 and I must say its quite good, played it a bit online, im really impressed.

Although I did notice that my 8800GT struggles a bit with it on my new 22 inch Sammy. What card do you guys recommend I combo with a 22?

What do you guys think of TF2? :) I really feel that the price of the Orange Box , R299, is really good!

I've been playing TF2 for about a year and two months now and I've found it the most addictive and fun game I've ever played. Just a word of warning... you might never put this one down!

I have an XFX 8800GT with a Samsung 226BW running at 1680x1050 without any performance issues whatsoever. What internet connection are you using an what is your ping in TF2?

Hey man, my ping hovers around 20.

Got a 4mb line, Line attenuation is good, as well as SNR, upstream is 6dB though, might want to look at that, I dont know maybe I should consider getting different drivers though! Ill keep you posted!

orange box... good investment for the holliday :)

The source engine should run very smoothly with 8800gt. I have however had alot of artefacts and texture issues on portal & tf2 with my 8800gts, but a driver update fixed that.

I never ever had issues with my 8800gt on TF2. Of course, the 4870 runs even better tho. :p

Might start playing this again over the holidays.

TF2 best investment i'd ever made, man i'd pay R299 for TF2 on its own! Portal is very cool!

What CPU do you have? Source engine is well known to handle all kind of PC's...

Ive got a HD4850 on a 22" with 1650x1050 and Im at 60 fps (VSync on) sometimes drops to about 40... But everything is maxed...

Ya, TF2 is still going strong for me, played for about 4 or 5 hours last night :)

Am also using 8800gt with 22" and do get the occasional lag when there are lots of people and rockets everywhere. You could try this command in the console - mat_queue_mode 2, it enables multi-thread support (I think its called that, can't remember) and gives a considerable frame boost on my side :)

The Orange Box is a great investment overall with TF2 being great fun! Portal also provides you with a few hours of game play like nothing we have ever seen before. The box runs like a dream on my 19" Widescreen and HD4870. But R300 is a bit hefty, I got it on a special a while back for R150 at Pick 'n Pay Hypermarket :p

Multi-CPU support soon ;)

We're also working on bringing over a variety of engine improvements from Left 4 Dead into the TF2 engine, but it won't be a wholesale replacement of the engine. This means we'll get some of L4D's performance improvements, like the better multicore support, but not all of them. For example, we can't bring over some improvements without dropping support for DX8, which we're not prepared to do.
