Thami Msubo is Telkom's Chief of Human Resources.
Mr Thamsanqa (Thami) Msubo was appointed as Chief of Human Resources with effect from 1 January 2011. Thami worked for TATA South Africa as Chief Human Resources, Corporate Affairs and Empowerment, based in Richards Bay. Prior to that he was Corporate HR Manager for Kumba Resources Limited, General Manager: Human Resources & External Relations for Ticor South Africa, Group Organizational Development Manager for Bayer South Africa. He was also Divisional HR Manager at CSIR (Materials Science & Technology Division) and Regional HR Manager for CPC Tongaat Foods. He was one of the 1st recipients of Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft Scholarship which was awarded to young South African Graduates for professional training in Germany between 1988 to 1989 and this enabled him to spend 1 year at Siemens AG in Munich and Nuernberg and Bayer AG in Leverkusen.
Thami holds a B.Admin Degree in Economics and Administration from the University of Durban-Westville, an Hons B.Admin degree in Administration from UNISA and completed his Master of Management Sciences Degree (Mag.rer.publ.,) in 1993 as a DAAD Scholar from the German University of Management Sciences in Germany. He is an active member of the Board of Governors of the World Association for Cooperative Education (WACE) and the National Commission for Cooperative Education (NCCE), both headquartered in Boston, USA, and served on the Academic Advisory Board for Human Resources at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and as Deputy Chair of Business Against Crime (BAC) in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. On 24 June 2009 he published his inaugural HR Textbook, "New Perspectives in People Management", in Vancouver, Canada and speaks fluent German.
