Thanks Esquire

Good price that! It'd be even cheaper if DCC sold to the public as well. :)

Far cheaper silver, could have bought 3 samsung 1tb's from sahara for that price :D.

Space though i suppose is maybe worth the extra dosh.

That depends if they even have stock of the Samsungs. I've had no luck sourcing 1TB Samsungs this past week. Also no luck sourcing WD Black Edition 1TB drives.

Rectron, who do alot of Samsung stuff, won't even list the Samsung drives on their price list because of issues getting hold of the things.

Isn't it cheaper to buy 2x1TBs as opposed to 1x2TB

Right now the WD 2TB is cheaper than 2x 1TB WD. This is WD though, pricier than Seagate and Samsung. I think going with the other brands you'll get a better price on 2x 1TB, but alas not with WD. The Black Editions are on backorder, but once again no known ETA.

I'm in desparate need of another 1TB drive. Got 150GB left on my 500GB Black and the other 2x 1TB are loaded. Can't find Samsung and can't find WD Black. Had to sell two 1TB Seagates recently when I couldn't fill the request for the Samsungs. Lucky for me they weren't too hassled about the higher price.

Makro have the WD 1 TB for R999.

Which WD is it? I've decided to go with the EARS versions. I picked up a WD green 1TB WD10EARS about 2 weeks ago and I'm going to need another one. :) It's the one with the new 4K blocks and works perfectly. Seems as quick as the others since it varies speed (5400-7200rpm) and it's dead quiet compared to the Seagate and Hitachi/Boeing. Since I'm not partitioning the EARS drives I don't have to worry about the sector alignment crap.

The EARS 1.5TB is looking tempting though and I might grab one when I place the order for a colleague.
