That’s a wrap‚ folks. Employees of Afro Worldview‚ previously known as ANN7‚ were told on Monday not to return to work on Tuesday.

Trade union Communications Workers Union (CWU) secretary-general Aubrey Tshabalala said: “That is true. That is what our members told us.”

Tshabalala said they were disappointed at how management had handled the channel's demise.

“Management should be upfront with workers to say what will happen if they are cut off from midnight tonight (Monday). Are workers going to stay at home? What will happen to their salaries? Those are the things that we felt that management was not upfront with them [about].”

MultiChoice spokesperson Kenneth Nxumalo confirmed they would be pulling the plug at midnight on Monday on the channel that started in 2013.

Feel sorry for the employees and hate the employers current and past even more now. Work is scarce so you take what you can get.

Government will absorb them at the SABC no doubt. They certainly have all the right training.

Feel really sorry for the unemployed but the writing was on the wall months and months ago..

The one Ann7 employee I had the "pleasure" of meeting was a dirty racist misogynistic piece of Gupta excrement. No tears shed here.

But if they now see the error of their ways and repent? they are still our fellow countrymen.

Why would they only see the "error of their ways" now? It was widely publicised in the press a few years ago. Should have started looking for jobs ages ago, not now. Mind you, being in the media industry in SA is a bad life decision given the pressure on revenues and low pay.

Most of the people who worked at ANN7 knew they were pedaling propaganda for the Guptas, so my sympathy is low.

They had only 2 options: earn a salary or leave. Editorial policy is a function of people much higher up.

I would rather leave, than to work for a criminal syndicate.
If you somehow find yourself being at risk of being implicated in their criminal activities, in this instance I think talk is cheap, with limited options many will simply do what they are supposed to do to earn their salary and provide for the if families.

I would not be able to sleep at night if I knew I was indirectly helping the Guptas to loot our country.

You think everything is above board in the corporate world? Look at the top construction companies for example. Price fixing is convoluted theft.
