In the Namibian desert...
Whilst chilling in bed this morning, watching VH1 Classic, Cutting Crew starting the memories flowing with some person that had died in their arms last night..... A grey cell stuck way at the back of the Moose's skull, spluttered to life, electrical pulses throbbing through it, as the memory of the Trench coat fashion of the 80's came flashing back.

There were many bands that wore trench coats..... Tears for Fears, Huey Lewis, Rick Astley......

The Moose had a Trench Coat, not from Sergeant Peppers, but from me Godfather, who was a knobby type in the RN and then later the SAN. It was heavy, black and hid a multitude of pockets.... this was a most excellent fashion accessory for hiding bottles of booze in..... long deep pockets..... the cloak had a 2nd purpose, a portable sleeping device for when I could be found passed out in unique locations like under the wooden beach huts on a windswept Muizenberg beach during the wee hours of the morn.....

Man! I miss my Trench Coat..... to this day, I have no idea what happened to it.....

Were you a Trench Coat lad?

ahhh, was not even born until 89. hahaha

good song thought, died in your arms tonight

I had one that looked (and felt) like it was made out of grey office carpet. Also useful for hiding contraband and for doubling up as a sleeping cover.

Had an old army trench coat that did exactly what you described , good for having a snooze after drinking to much of the good stuff and having to sleep it off and good for carrying a full 750ml bottle in the inside pockets .
Long hair and john lennon glasses at the rock concerts they used to have at the stadiums here in durbs , showing my age here .
I am talking the 70's here ,
The trench coat was purchased at an army surplus store here in the 70's it was awesome in winter ,do not know what became of that coat .

Good grief ! Was that you outside the hut on Sunrise Beach I used to see whilst walking my lady home in the wee hours of a Sunday morning after we checked fishing conditions along Strandfontein ?

Was'nt that the one with the German Flag on the sleeve?

Yep! That's it, deep pockets, easily fit a 750ml bottle and in some cases you could access the bottle from a pocket inside the coat, this was most excellent for when you did'nt want to share your tipple....

Yep! That be me.... Brass Bell closed at around 12h00 and the lady I was spading would'nt invite me home..... It was way too far to walk to Glencairn, so I just crashed on the beach......... was kark when the SE was blowing all that sand into my face, ironically now I reside in a desert and reflect fondly apon those windswept drunken nights!

Am looking for one, its midlife crisis time, and I feel the urge to.....anyway, trench coats are one of the best flashing clothes designed...I mean flashier

trench coat lad - not really, although perhaps a bit of an exhibitionist - maybe a trench coat would have come in handy :D

Wish I was back in the 80's right now. Life was way better.

No had no trench coat though, but did the whole Miami Vice no socks thing back in college.

I've still got mine. Black. Got it from an army surplus store. Still comes in handy now and then. I've still got my 14 ups too.

Took my brothers spare that he got from the Navy during the Border War. Awesome thing, black, thick, deep pockets, used it normally and was a great protector later during paintball games.
