The whole point of an AI chat program has nothing to do with how cool it looks it's about the "intelligence" of your engine.

Stop mocking up fancy smanchy interfaces and start researching. You could release the most awesome AI chat program with the best look/feel/usability in the world, but if it's "stupid" then I will say you have failed at what you wanted to achieve. A console application with even moderate intelligence would be superior.

To me it sound like you have no idea/understanding of how massive the task is you want to undertake, and thought it would be "cool".

With regards to your beloved Multimedia Builder, does it support ADT's (Abstract Data Types) because you'll definitely need those to do this. Arrays and loops aren't going to cut it.

I don't need to prove myself to anyone. I code because I enjoy it and I feel a sense of fulfillment and achievement upon completing a particularly complex project.

I never even insinuated anything like that. I only engage in interesting programming discussions and help out where and when I can. There are many others that I ADMIT are better on this forum. If you follow this section of MyBB regularly then you'll know that I regularly give credit where due. I also learn a lot from the more senior guys (Raithlin and dequadin to be specific) with regards to .NET and web development in general.

What are you on about?! I never mentioned anything like it! I just asked, out of interest, if you haven't moved on to anything else yet. Innocent, straight-forward question.

If you read my previous post(s) in this thread, you would've noticed that I attempted it once before previously, but realized the scope and complexity far outweighs what I wanted to achieve. I decided to leave it to the AI experts. Nobody can be a master of all programming disciplines. That's why people specialize in AI, graphics (OpelGL, DirectX, XNA, etc.), game engines, information systems, web applications, etc. The list is almost endless. I keep emphasizing that I specialize in web development. That's it. I'll keep the AI to the people with an interest in it.

Also, dequadin is right. Read up a bit on AI theory. AI is more than just parsing a string for typical string patterns, looking for keywords and supplying the appropriate answer which is saved in a text file somewhere. It involves complex networks and training the AI engine.

please stop mocking me with MMB, as i've discussed with farlig, I am NOT a Developer. I did not laugh at farligs 3D attemps, and I certainly didn't name him all my qualifications, achievements, and abilites towards 3D Animation.

I don't mock you guys' 3D skills, so don't mock my coding skills. it is a kind of hobby of mine, that is all. I do not do it for a living OK? can we move past this already?:rolleyes: great.

I smell a challenge then. I challenge you PRO developers to take me on. since you think i'm mickey mouse about my AI program, I want you all to try and beat me. go for it - make anything you want.

I was merely pointing out that if you development language of choice doesn't have the capability to do what you want to do, then you are going to have a problem.

You need the right tool for the right job, nothing else...

Anyway you never answered my question, does it support ADT's or not?

IIRC, it doesn't. It's a sort of scripting language for multimedia based events. It doesn't support object orientation either, so implementing almost any design pattern would be an exercise in futility. To its credit, it does multimedia very well. I still prefer using it to create flashy presentations over Powerpoint or Flash.

@Keeper - Dude, calm down. I never insulted you for using MMB. I only asked whether you moved on to something else, that's all. Period. Done. I know you are very good in MMB and enjoy using it. That's fine. I think people in here are just pointing out that AI involves a lot more than you are aware of at this point in time. I didn't take the AI course at varsity myself, purely because of lack of interest. But friends of mine did and I followed along with them. It reeeeeeeeeally is very complex and MMB wouldn't be able to handle the scope of even a very simple neural network.

As for your 3L173 3D 5K1LLZ, you are very good. You can out-model and out-render most people in South Africa. You can claim the title of "champion 3d modeler of Mybb ffs" if you really want to. You are very good at that. But please refrain from derogatory speak towards others' ability in their chosen profession?

no, it doesn't.

But I can create my own mumbo jumbo mush of code that could simulate some sort of AI.

look - this thread isn't only for people that have studied AI and C++ for 12 years or whatever...if you can code some sort of microbiology evolution "game" in flash, AWESOME. if you can do it with java, great.

If you are more of an engineer then build a small robot(s) much like mercurials thread. upload the video of what it does and it's intelligence.

This thread is for fun little programs that SIMULATE AI in some sort of way - if you guys know to work with "neural networks" then be my guest - use it in your projects, and put your money where your mouth is.

like previously mentioned, A.L.I.C.E, the chat bot, can't even answer basic maths questions like "what is 6 minus 1" - i tested it. mine will at minimum be able to do that, beating it already in that department.

as for interface - i'm making it all fancy because I can. why use a console-type program when i can do better? it was an hours work dude!

Are you guys gonna show off YOUR little inventions or are you all just lip-flapping, and not even planning on competing?

give people a chance, sheesh, I havent even written 20 lines of code yet:rolleyes:

Forgot to try that with "her" last night. But ALICE does keep your messages and use them in a historical context, which I find impressive. God couldn't do it.

well that is pretty impressive :erm:

mine will at least know if you have said the same thing...so i could make it say "you've asked me that before, move on already" or say "I told you already, " + prev. answer
 
so, who's up for it then? I want to see how you guys implement this neuron network code you guys talk so highly about.
