So I have an Intel NUC PC with Windows 10.

I have screen timeout set to 1 hour and all Screen Savers turned off.

I also have "Show log on screen when waking up" turned off.

But this PC goes to sleep every 5 minutes and then it takes about two minutes of moving the mouse, clicking the keyboard, etc to wake it up, and then you have to re-enter the password at the log on screen again to go back to the desktop.

Please for the love of all that is holy and right in the world tell me how to fix this... without reformatting and getting rid of this piece of useless crap software?

Under power & sleep settings turn off sleep to never... Had to do something similar in Windows 7 as well.

Will try that, but it's not ideal for this user as he never shuts down... just leaves the PC and goes home... and then the PC would stay on all night.

Just saying, for those who do not like or use hibernation(Space used by my PC was 6.6GB):

Open CMD in admin mode:

powercfg.exe /h off

Try this as well. Got flak for trying to assist people by some people here that apparently know better. I have been in this industry for far too long.

OK that didn't work.

Set it to high performance default, then turned off all sleep settings. Screen still went blank after 5 mins.

What is the power setting for the GPU in both the normal power setting and its own?

Screen going blank does not mean its in sleep mode. Machine could be active with screen blanked?

Nothing makes any difference. Now changing the default theme back to basic. Trying that.

Might need to check if there are any sleep requests with an elevated CMD prompt: powercfg -requests

(Sorry, my PC froze)

Interesting how Windows 10 always gets blamed.

But it has to be Windows 10, it can't possibly be the bad power settings, or crappy software people have installed! It HAS to be the bad Windows 10, because it's cool to hate on it I suppose.

I almost garauntee that if OP had the same setting messing him around now on Windows 7/8 the same problem would be encountered
