The above ground pool thread

Found a decent patch kit at a pool place in Wynberg if you're in the Cape. Otherwise duct tape kept my pool from leaking for like 2 months - and it wasn't a small hole. (turns out it sticks underwater. Still not convinced the patch kit is better, but at least the colour matches. Black tape in your pool does not look nice)

The kit instructions say you can stick inside or out. I have one patch outside and a few inside. Stuck them on with water in the pool. Messy but it worked. Took some getting used to.

Yep in the cape so pls send me the details of the place in wynberg. Drive past there every other day.

Oops, apparently it's Kenilworth.
Only 'real' pool shop I've been to that didn't give me a blank look when I said 'above ground pool'. Just ask for a patch kit.

Bit of a thread revival.

After much thought, I decided to buy an above ground pool. The bestway power steel Vista 2 (2.5x4.2m)

I remember reading here that someone used rubber conveyour belts as a base.

I have a paved yard and it seems that this is the best option. I'm going with 18mm think belts (2x 1.6x4.5m)

I wanted to know what would be the best to use to fill up the gap between the 2 belts. Would normal silicon work or should I use something like Sikaflex?

It's been 4 years and my pool has just about rusted through (uprights rusted at base of the feet and horizontals with rust).

1.) I will see if I can cut them off (foot rust) / attach pavers underneath to make up the shortfall.
2.) Checkers has my same model Bestway 4.57m x 1.07m pool @ R4600 - so if that doesn't work I'll replace it (then in another 4 years the little one will be 7 and I'll feel safer about putting in an in ground pool).

Additionally - if anyone needs a new pool vac Amazon has a decent special currently:
