Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo

Alfa Romeo unveiled the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo, inspired by the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, the brand's legendary mid-engine sports car. Only 33 units of this limited-edition 4C Spider will be produced for North America.

"Since its introduction in 2014, the 4C has been a halo vehicle for Alfa Romeo, exciting enthusiasts around the world and spearheading the relaunch of the brand in North America," said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo. "The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an instant Alfa Romeo classic that passes the torch to the next generation of iconic Alfa Romeo vehicles, including the upcoming Tonale PHEV crossover that will start production next year."

Alfa Romeo honours 33 Stradale with special edition 4C

The mid-engined Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale of 1967 was considered to be one of the world’s first true supercars, and now the Italian carmaker is honouring it with a special version of its sportiest current offering.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo comes out the starting blocks with some exclusive features, including gray-gold five-hole alloy wheels, measuring 18 inches in diameter upfront and 19” at the back. It also gets an exclusive Rosso Villa d’Este tri-coat exterior colour and composite sport seats covered in black Dinamica suede and tobacco leather.

The 4C 33 Stradale also receives dedicated plaques on the dash, side sills and centre console, the last of which is progressively numbered. Furthermore, customers are treated to a matching and numbered book designed by Centro Stile, which chronicles the 4C’s design concept, technology, materials and Modena assembly facility as well as the history of the 33 Stradale.

Abarth 1000 SP racer reborn with 240bhp Alfa Romeo engine

Retro-styled two-seat concept was designed with emphasis on lightness; takes its engine from 4C

Alfa Romeo engineers have produced a modern reinterpretation of the 1960s Abarth 1000 SP race car.

The Abarth 1000 SP (Sport Prototipo) is a one-off homage to the car that made its debut 55 years ago and won the Nürburgring 500km in 1966.

It was initially designed to compete in both endurance races and hillclimbs and enjoyed success as in various motorsport disciplines.

The retro-styled concept takes the form of a mid-sized sports car and is larger than the original, but it features several nods to the original design. Lightness, agility and aerodynamic efficiency were key to the design,

The concept is constructed around a carbonfibre and aluminium chassis, featuring overlapping triangle suspension with MacPherson struts in the rear, and is powered by the same 240bhp turbocharged 1.7-litre four-cylinder engine that featured in the Alfa Romeo 4C roadster.

Abarth 1000 SP is a ‘60s race car reborn for the modern era

Fiat’s Abarth performance marque has paid a very special tribute to one of its legendary race cars from the 1960s, by producing a modern recreation. Unfortunately those wanting to get in on the nostalgia won’t actually be able to buy the new Abarth 1000 SP as the outfit is only making one of them.

The new sports car takes very clear design inspiration from the 1000 SP of the 1960s. The latter was created as a lightweight race car designed to excel in both short hillclimbs and endurance races. The vehicle went on to achieve numerous international victories, including a class win in the Nürburgring 500 km in September 1966. The extremely low-slung competition car featured a tubular chassis and a 1-litre engine (hence the name), which was derived from the Fiat 600’s powerplant.

And what better car to form the basis of the 1000 SP’s modern successor than the Alfa Romeo 4C? That’s what the new Abarth 1000 SP appears to be based on. This also means that it’s not really a ‘1000’ anymore as power comes from the company’s modern 1742cc turbopetrol engine, which produces 177 kW.

Like the Alfa 4C, the modern Abarth 1000 SP features a carbon fibre central tub as well as a frontal structure made from aluminium. Although it’s not as low to the ground, its proportions are at least respectful of its forebear, as are design features such as curvy arches that accentuate the wheels beneath them.

I'm assuming this is the 4c I saw today. Much wider than you'd think. Driven by an old geriatric with back problems going by how slow he was driving and the fact that he almost came to a complete stop for every small imperfection in the road.
