Nzimande also criticised Motlanthe for not having attacked the breakaway faction of the ANC, now campaigning as the Congress of the People (Cope).

His enemies see this as an indication that the president was going to join the breakaway party. To bolster his argument, Nzimande cited Motlanthe's Cabinet decision to sell Telkom's Vodacom shares to Vodaphone - in a deal that involved a company linked to one of COPE's leaders and Smuts Ngonyama, the former ANC spokesperson - as evidence that the president wants to finance the breakaway party.

To me anc or cope both still look like a fire, just different parts of it. I mean the 'main' members of cope seem to be the ones who like the gravy train and wish to keep things going.. the anc.. well there is the zuma factor and their track record.
 
That is ultimately the biggest problem...

Cope is just the ANC "old" guard... and Zuma's "new" guard are no better... prob even MORE dodgy if you ask me...

BUT if they can keep each other from having a majority and possibly keep each other in check then it might be a good thing.

Well for the first few elections that will hopefully be the case, as time goes on they may realise they actually have to appeal to voters' needs if they wish to have any say in parliament or government.

I wonder how would Motlanthe continue office? Surely Blade should not worry as long as Zuma stays out of court.
 
Thinking about this even further... I do have to wonder about Blade in general.

He opens his mouth and spews forth vitriol for less than no apparent reason. One has to wonder what has happened behind closed doors for Blade to not like Kgalema (other than him possibly being a HELL of alot smarter than Blade)
 
Could Cope and ANC become buddies after the elections?
 
That is also a concept that has run through my head JK8.. and in its own way scares me because it could mean the new "coalition" would have even more votes than the ANC currently do on their own due to so many people saying they'll vote for COPE just because they're a new party that has a chance of giving the ANC a run for their money.

Lot of bad blood there. You know calling each other snakes and traitors to the revolution; or rather the ANC doing the name calling. I doubt it will happen because there are too many greedy paws trying to get into the pie, just no room for compromise (as the MDC).

One can only hope so timgaul. I just wouldn't put lying at that level past these guys, but also such a plot would be way too subtle for our current leadership to grasp I think.
