Smuts Ngonyama has resigned from the ANC. So how many does that make that?

Johannesburg - Former ANC communications chief Smuts Ngonyama will resign from the ruling party on Thursday, he said.

Smuts quits

Also know now why "Dr." Carl Niehaus, suddenly poped his head out of nowhere.

Niehaus is a very confused person. Or I am.

Yesterday, on 702, he muttered something in response to a question about the ANC not being the ANC that people knew along the lines of the policies of the ANC not having changed.

Clearly he wasn't invited to Polokwane or the place that he has just popped his head out of was his own backside.

Good idea for a thread.

I also want exact figures.

Seems like the COPE is rapidly becoming the "branch" of which the old ANC will be the "splinter".

GOOD TIMES indeed.

I think the part of Carl that troubles me most, is that he studied theology and his manner of speech is that of a priest giving a sermon.

He awakens the rebel in me :)

For me, the saddest part of the COP party is that the Brothers Pahad are apparently also joining - or have already joined - but are keeping a low profile for now.

I am afraid that just ruined it for me :(

As long as it level the playing fields a bit, by taking the 66% away from the old ANC.

YES!

So many people are hung up on who they are, rather than the "damage" they will cause to the ANC.
Splitting the ANC vote in half gives parties like the DA a real shot at goal.

I don't see the ANC loosing the elections, but I do see them loosing their 66% in parliament.

Who will be president, well now there it will be close and I feel the COP's will put forth their own candidate as well as the DA.

Wishful thinking, you forget that the ANC still have in its arsenal the SABC which it will use against "oppertunists and BEE fatcats" as the COP has been called.

I'm loving all of this. Perhaps those arrogant types in the ANC will get a little wake up call and realise that they are NOT the be all and end all.

Are you referring to the 'old' ANC or the new party, aka the 'reshuffled' version of the ANC.

Please. These are the very same people everyone was fed up with a few months ago.

Except the ANC and SABC are at each others throats.

And, a report online today shows black middle class now at just under 10 million - not exactly the people brimming over with support for a party that is endangering their well being (water, power, education, health...)

Yip, I think the ANC has forgotten about the black man in the middle. They are focussing all their energy on the poor, but the black middle class will have the last say in the matter and will lead to the fall of the ANC in the latter future.

That's my wish...then REAL democracy will be in play and future elections won't just be a black party/white party affair
