He's too defensive for an innocent man of integrity. By the way, you'd make a lousy detective if that's how you look at people around an investigation. This defensive stance he's taken just confirms the cops' suspicions. For a hit he did a pretty lousy job of it & sounds like a coward to book, he could at least have asked them to give both him & the driver a solid beating even maybe shoot them both in the leg or something.

Yeah but to be fair if someone accused me of murder I would also be defensive. If denial makes you suspicious then we are all f**ked!

The cops were careful not to spook him, but the media (esp. British tabloids) suspected him all along and didn't hide it like the coppers. He here is saying cops are trying to frame him. The police wouldn't frame someone on such a high profile case in full view of British tabloids!

He can deny the murder without claiming framing - there must be solid evidence against him if he thinks it's a framing. Think man!

High crime? Incompetent corrupt cops? South Africans do it all the time, some get away with it but most don't.
You see murder isn't very hard to investigate in most cases... in something like 65% of murders, the victim knows and is close to their murderer. The cops know this very well - it it doesn't add up then they know to start very close to home.

He claims framing which is a defence he'll try at extradition... Won't try to proof his innocence in court cause he'd be found guilty by virtue of being 'framed'.

If this is true, then I have to give it to those posters who said from the start he was involved. How can you have the number of a random hijacker and talk to them before the crime was committed?

If he did this on his normal cellphone, or a phone that can be traced back to him, he is beyond idiotic.

Moreover, in most of the cases where a woman is killed, the perpetrator is her intimate partner, i.e. husband/lover/boyfriend.

I have read so many times about this alleged insurance taken out on his wife's life. Any proof or link to this?

The Daily Mail and media groups reported that Dewani had hired Johannesburg attorney Billy Gundelfinger to represent him. Gundelfinger did not return calls to his office.

1. In his description of the cops as all being corrupt and taking bribes, he is grossly generalising.

2. How much criminal work does Gundelfinger do? I was under the impression it was family law.

SA has an international standing as having an incredibly high crime rate, maybe he thought he could get away with it? What he didn't factor into his calculations is the fact that crimes perpetrated against foreigners get more coverage, therefore there is more pressure on the cops to produce results, and I suppose they put their most competent officers on the case.

Would be nice for someone like David Klatzow to be on the case, or even Piet Byleveld (not sure if he has joined a private company after his retirement in July this year).
