The Ashes 2021-22

Good to see a good fight back by the Poms. I want to see evenly contested. Not lopsided.

Good fightback by England.

BTW. Embarrassing that aus don't have a functioning third umpire no ball system nor snicko for this test...

What a shocking dismissal from burns. Leaving your leg stump exposed like that first ball of the series.
the guy's a crap player. Averages slightly over 32 in test cricket. Suspect and vulnerable batting stance and action too. He's an opening bowler's delight.
I saw him open here in RSA and said then that he wouldn't last long at the top. Looks like I was wrong only because they have nobody else to pull out of County Cricket.

Great fightback but they'll have to continue like this for another day and beyond.
Without a doubt. England's issues are not having Broad and Anderson in the team (and they're screwed going forwards as it looks like it's only Wood who is good enough as a fast bowler), and openers who are just not good enough for this level.

With a depleted attack you can still draw but if your batters are shyte it's going to be constant struggle playing catch-up as is the case here.

2 early wickets in the morn and all the hard work for nothing.

Disagree. The ball has hardly swung in this test. Anderson and Broad wouldn't have been effective. The bowlers they are missing is archer and a fully bowling fit Stokes.

In the only series England have won in aus in the last 30 years Chris tremlet and Steve Finn played vital roles.

It's only really in day night tests and at Hobart were swing bowlers come into their own. Quick seam bowlers are the ones who tend to fair best.

And their openers are rubbish. Burns has an atrocious technique!

Why are we talking about the bowlers when it's the batsmen that folded for 147 odd? It seems that it was a bad decision to bat first as already england are batting better on day 3.

Fair enough, batsmen bear the most blame, but the bowlers also let the Australian tail wag quite hard.

I wonder if England just called wrong at the toss. Apart from Burns, I can't recall an England batsman giving their wicket away. Seems that first morning was tailor-made for seam bowling and the Aussies took full toll.

Credit to England on day 3 though. Commentators were saying that day 3 would be the best conditions for batting and Root and Malan took full advantage.

It’s going to be a really long and depressing 6 weeks for England.

Gets worse for England. Fined 100% of their match fee and docked 5 world test championship points for a slow overrate.

Finn seems to have mental issues.

They have this Topley guy who is left armer and 6'7.
For some reason they can't get him into test cricket.
