How many owners since new? Turbo going at 40,000kms is either very bad luck, or an owner who had no clue of how to drive a turbo car. If the same person drove the car after the Turbo was replaced, I'd be wary of the new one giving up. That being said it was replaced two weeks after the previous service, so maybe an appy decided to fiddle where he shouldn't have.

What is item 3 on that list, Bondet Rubber mounting?

Not sure of how many owners, will try to find out. It is interesting how it went two weeks after a service. Agreed about the wariness one needs to have when it comes to turbos. On the other hand, could be good to have a fairly new turbo, vs one that has never been replaced.

I reckon it's a typo, either supposed to be bonded or less likely, bonnet.

What you think of the ignition being replaced? Not such a biggie hey.

Try find out which rubber it was, the labor cost is nearly as much for that as it was for the turbo. That looks like a 2.5 or 3 hour job, which means it was in a hard to reach place or required a bit of the engine/body coming out/off.

As for the ignition, it was probably a recall/bulletin to have it replaced for some or other minor defect, happens all the time. I wouldn't be worried about it.

Edit: You can see they did the ignition at the same time the battery was replaced, which makes me think the owner took it in for a dead battery, and they did the ignition as part of a bulletin.
 
I'd say go for it, but you might want a 3.0 TDi in a few weeks time so maybe go for that from the start?

Not a guarantee nothing will go wrong...fact. I would never go for a high spec / high end car without a warranty covering it for the duration of my finance period, especially a car with a turbo. I've seen it go wrong, so no thanks. Your choice at the end of the day though.

Did the radio volume knob memory issue extend to B7 models with Concert radios?

Oh and what was wrong with the A4 2.0T above (other than the turbo being replaced)?

I'm not sure, but the mp3 compatibility and looks are a must. I've never noticed anything funny with the knob.

Haven't been able to take a look at the above one yet.

Something also concerning me is that mine's interior is immaculate.
 
Going to have a look at a white 2006 A4 2.0 Auto 140000km for R100K.

Getting quite excited I must admit!

Nice. Try go for a 2007 with the upgraded 'Concert' CD player... Looks much more modern, and plays MP3s.

AFAIK it's a Blaupunkt.

At least that's what I'm looking out for. :)

Most of the 2.0Ts I've seen have the older ones. That alone will make me want to kepn my 2.0 as it has the better front loader.
 
Inferior audio. If you have ever had the pleasure of driving a D2 A8 then you would know proper audio. No other Bose system I heard comes close to that one.

How far have you upgraded through the Audi ranks? Still stuck at level A4 or are you in the A6 league already?

This thread is about the A4 B7. And as a bit of an audiophile with some good kit, I am more than happy with my stock sound, it even has a sub-woofer. Far more than I was expecting to be honest.

I was merely commenting on the A4 B7 head units, the 2007/8 Concert double din, which I currently have, being the best looker, more modern, and supporting MP3 CD.

Not everyone can affor to move through the ranks as you put it.
