The Audi Thread

Any thoughts on this from the more learned folk on this forum? My car is reaching the end of the current plan, 5 years at the end of the year, 90k mileage. A3, so looking at R4800.

Does this cover the big service coming up - cam belt and water pump?
I took out a service plan when my motorplan expired. Covered the cambelt which was my concern.

However they didn't change the Waterpump. On my car the Waterpump was around R750 so I asked them to change it my cost.

It's looking like it covers only an oil change, I could be wrong. An Indy would charge you much less for this service and basically they are boosting prepayments for servoces without giving up much.

Service like this on the lower capacity engines would come out much cheaper.

So it's not full FWP, but rather 2 services and access to roadside assist which your insurance likely covers anyway.

Personally contemplating since I have a 5 y/o 3.0TDI

I'm looking at a 2014 Q5 2.0 Tdi Quattro S Tronic, for 175K and 93000km on the clock. Seems like a reasonable price? Perhaps too reasonable if I look at other listings of the same model. Dealership isn't MFC approved. Not sure if that's an warning sign (not too experienced at this)

You need check service records for oil change on the Stronic box, had to be done by now. Most owners skip this, but this should been done on the freeway plan so audi should have it on record.

Also feel if it shifting smootly and no jitter when you pull off the line.

Make sure have optional warranty that covers a decent amount on the gearbox. You will need this if keeping the car for a while.

No pure combustion powertrains for future RS line-up, Audi Sport confirms

As manufacturers continue to embrace electric mobility for their performance cars, we are seeing a rapid shift towards hybridisation and full EV powertrains. While some brands still offer pure combustion engine options alongside electrified products, Audi Sport has confirmed that future RS models will be exclusively electrified.

Speaking to Autocar, Audi Sport sales and marketing boss Rolf Michl revealed that the brand will follow a one-car-one-engine structure, as the RS line-up always has. Audi Sport has already made steps to implement electrification with the current RS6, which incorporates a 48v mild-hybrid system.

Upcoming electrified products will include a plug-in hybrid RS4 Avant and the E-tron GT, both of which will hit the market in 2023.

“We [Audi Sport] are well-known for precise portfolio planning and we want to keep it easy for the customer. We will have one car with one engine. It doesn’t make sense to have different variants,” said Michl.

I'm a bit confused about the price differences between various Q5's, like here. Low km recent models are a lot cheaper than higher mileage ones. Some of the reviews on google talk about dodgy methods used, i.e. accident damaged etc. What gives

The first one on that page is R185K for 89000 km, whereas the next one has nearly double the kilometers but is R74000 more expensive. I wouldn't think a three year newer car would warrant such a higher price

Your link didn’t go anywhere specific.

There’s likely been a facelift in between so it’s entirely different model.

Could be different engine or spec level as well.

One could have full service history and the other doesn’t.

I would personally want a newer higher mileage car than and older lower mileage one.

Newer car possibly still under extended maintenance plan etc.

So had to take my car in for an annual service (oil change) as the last one was done last year at the same time and i was on approx 87 000km. Now i am on 92 000km. Technically this would have been the 105 000km service from what i understand.

So Audi quote me R10k for an additional 1 year extension to my freeway plan (exactly the same cover as present an including service).

So my question is, will my next service be the dreaded cam belt service? And then does this R10k for 1 extra year seem worth it?

I asked Audi, they gave me "it depends" answer. Which doesnt provide much help

There are two parts to the Audi Freeway plan extension. Time and km. You can do the +1 year extension now but you will have to do the km extension when you get close to 100k km's.

I did the 1 year extension in March for 14k and since my car is on 95k km's at the moment I received the quote for an additional 20k km's yesterday. Only 26k :(

Yup, i got quoted the same for 20 000km. I thought R10k for the extra year wasnt too bad - would cover another service and then also offer some peace of mind.

For the 20 000lm, I dont think its worth it to be honest. I might have to go with a 3rd party provider for mechanical failure. I used Hollard on my previous car, never had to claim so cant say much about how they handled and actual claim and if they paid up. Reviews are terrible though.

My car has been with Audi for the last two weeks to fix a water leak that is a known issue on the V6 TDI engines. Will make a post on it with prices etc. as soon as my car has been fixed.

Dunno ..... methinks people are way too sensitive ..... but anyway.
Audi apologises for 'insensitive' ad after critics called it unsafe, sexually suggestive

After an uproar on social media, luxury carmaker Audi apologised for an ad depicting a young girl leaning against the grille of one of its high-performance station wagons while eating a banana.

"We sincerely apologize for this insensitive image and ensure that it will not be used in future," the brand said in a statement on Twitter.
